Just days prior to Survivor Series 2020, WWE pulled a huge swerve on its fans and crowned a brand new WWE Champion in Drew McIntyre. Having initially lost the title to Randy Orton at this year's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, McIntyre, on this week's edition of Monday Night RAW, became a two-time champion.

After initially teasing a match with Roman Reigns when appearing on last week's SmackDown, Drew McIntyre is now set for a colossal clash against The Big Dog. In what promises to be a mouthwatering Champion vs. Champion match between the WWE and Universal Champion, McIntyre and Reigns are surely expected to bring the fight to one another in the main event of Survivor Series.

But, where does this leave Randy Orton at?

After feuding with Drew McIntyre for months and having failed to capture the WWE Championship on numerous occasions, The Viper finally got his hands on his 14th World Title at Hell in a Cell. After a reign that lasted for just 22 days, Randy Orton now finds himself in a bizarre situation, having gone from the main event spot to not even being featured on the Survivor Series card at this time.

#5. Randy Orton interferes in the Survivor Series main event

The Survivor Series main event will feature two of the biggest Superstars in WWE today, as Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns get set for a huge all-champions clash. In what promises to be one of the most hyped-up matches in modern WWE history, the match could even reach the iconic Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock levels, per Triple H.

Rightfully so, both Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns have been quite dominant as their respective brand champions and it's definitely going to be a big ask for either man to lose clean at Survivor Series. Judging by Randy Orton's antics, The Viper could decide to get involved in the Survivor Series showdown between the two and possibly cost McIntyre the match, in order to get back at the WWE Champion.

#4. Randy Orton calls for a rematch against Drew McIntyre after Survivor Series

If Randy Orton is going to cost Drew McIntyre his match against Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, then he might just do it to gain momentum heading into a potential rematch.

Having lost the WWE Championship after about 20 days, Orton definitely won't be too pleased with the outcome from this week's RAW. As a result of which, it is only natural for Orton to vouch for a rematch and cash in a potential rematch clause for the WWE Championship. For the time being, Drew McIntyre is expected to keep his focus on his next opponent, that is, Roman Reigns. While the two world champions do not have sufficient time to build-up their clash at Survivor Series, the match in itself promises to be a good one.

However, after Survivor Series, Orton could get into it with McIntyre for the one final time before closing their chapter and moving on to whatever plans WWE has in store for The Viper next. Preferably, another RAW main event between Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre would be an acceptable conclusion to this rivalry.

#3. Randy Orton replaces a Superstar on Team RAW at the last minute

Much like the past few years, Survivor Series 2020 is turning out to be a stacked card that will feature the traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series matches. For this year's PPV, the RAW Men's Team will feature the likes of AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, Sheamus, Riddle, and Keith Lee. On the other hand, Randy Orton, who has been a crucial part of Survivor Series over the years, is now in danger of missing out on the pay-per-view. Having someone as experienced as The Viper on a team would definitely be beneficial for a particular brand and, at this point, Orton could opt to set his sights on any of the five members from the Red Team.

While the possibility of Randy Orton taking out someone like Sheamus or Riddle at the very last minute and replace them for Team RAW is very unlikely, the WWE Universe certainly wouldn't mind the swerve. Having Orton compete at Survivor Series would be a solid way to regain his lost momentum. And if The Viper can pull-off a solid performance or even a win for his team, Orton will be right back into the mix for a title shot.

After Randy Orton's win at Hell in a Cell, it did seem like the match that was on course for Survivor Series was a clash between Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. But, with the now-former WWE Champion dropping the title to Drew McIntyre at the very last minute, a brand crossover featuring The Viper and The Tribal Chief has been called-off, at least as of now.

After feuding against Drew McIntyre for months and even adding a world title to his collection, Randy Orton doesn't really have much to accomplish on the red brand of RAW. Hence, The Viper could decide to switch brands, by possibly using the Wildcard Rule, and shift his focus towards Roman Reigns.

In the past, Reigns and Orton have squared off a few times on WWE TV. And following the former's return this Summer, Orton even took a few shots at The Tribal Chief on social media. This prompted a social media altercation between the two Superstars and has perfectly laid the foundation for Orton to make the jump to the blue brand of SmackDown and engage in an interesting feud with Roman Reigns.

At WrestleMania 36, Edge made his return to singles competition for the first time in nine years, and for his return to action, The Rated-R Superstar was welcomed to the ring by his long-term tag team partner turned rival, Randy Orton.

In an absolutely brutal Last Man Standing Match, Edge ended up beating Orton. However, the rematch between the pair at Backlash 2020 was a completely different affair. In a match billed as The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever, Orton got one over Edge and put the latter away. Since that loss, Edge hasn't featured on WWE TV due to sustaining a significant injury during his Backlash clash with Orton. However, it is to be believed that for WrestleMania 37, Edge will be resuming his feud against Randy Orton. And with The Viper now done with Drew McIntyre for good, Orton could shift his focus towards Edge.

The aftermath of Survivor Series will certainly be the perfect time for Randy Orton to initiate his WrestleMania 37 feud against Edge and call-out the latter. Especially given that it could almost be time for The Rated-R Superstar to return to action.
