5 Dream matches for Sting if he returns to WWE for one final run

WWE Hall of Famer Sting is well and truly considered as one of the greatest superstars' to ever step foot into the world of Professional Wrestling and having retired from in-ring competition a few years ago, Sting did indeed close out the possibility on a number of dream matches featuring him and other megastars of the business.

However, in a recent live panel broadcast on Fite TV, the former WCW World Champion did admit the fact that if the opportunity is being presented then he would definitely make a return to the business for one more match. Despite Sting claiming that he would return for a match only against The Undertaker, one thing is for sure that as of right now, there are several dream matches we could possibly witness The Stinger in.

With the current day WWE roster filled with several talented men from particular generations, Sting could very well share the ring with superstars from the past, present, and the future as well. And in this list, we will take a look at 5 of Sting's dream opponents if he is to return to the WWE for one last run.

#5 AJ Styles

One more time?
One more time?

Now that you look back at it, both AJ Styles and Sting had a pretty similar journey in the Pro Wrestling business. Sting initially started out as the face of WCW and carried the promotion on his shoulders, to say the least, and the same could be said for AJ Styles as well, who pretty much did the same during his time with TNA.

After years of anticipation, Sting made his way over to the WWE in 2014 and similarly, Styles also made his debut for the WWE in 2016. Both the former TNA World Champions also had the privilege of sharing the ring with each other back in the day in TNA and with both men having garnished the ample amount of experience in the business, one final match between AJ Styles and Sting would definitely be one to watch out for.

#4 'Demon' Finn Balor

Throughout his Pro Wrestling career, Finn Balor has shared the ring with some of the very best wrestlers in the world. Starting from the likes of Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada in NJPW to the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Brock Lesnar in WWE.

Balor has faced off against some of the biggest household names in the business, however, the man who is often known as 'The Demon King' is yet to share the ring with the one legend of the business, who is rather likely to turn his career upside down.

Several rumors have suggested that Balor could finally step into the ring with The Undertaker in the near future but a match with the returning Sting could me monumental for Finn Balor's career as well. Considering Sting's last match was against the much-agile Seth Rollins, Balor, for one, shouldn't have a problem for himself in order to adjust in the ring against The Stinger.

The Demon vs The Stinger could very well be the passing of the torch.

#3 John Cena

Talk about having a legendary match! Now, I do know for a reason that The Undertaker vs Sting is a legendary match in the making but if you look at it, both The Stinger and The Deadman sort of represent the same era in the Pro Wrestling industry.

However, on the other hand, John Cena and Sting are considered as two of the greatest superstars to represent two very different eras in the Pro Wrestling business. Sting himself is a former multi-time World Champion in the Pro Wrestling business and has held numerous World Championships for several different promotions from all around the world.

John Cena, meanwhile, is a 16-time WWE World Champion and has already established his legacy as one of the greatest WWE superstars' of all time. Therefore, a match between Cena and Sting, which by the way, is a WrestleMania caliber match would be amazing and once in a lifetime to witness.

#2 The Undertaker

Never say never when it comes to Pro Wrestling
Never say never when it comes to Pro Wrestling

The obvious pick of the list and the likeliest one to take place eventually at some point down the road. There is no surprise to the fact that witnessing The Undertaker and Sting collide against each other at some point down the line will indeed be a dream match come true for many fans all around the globe.

Despite the fact that the two men are in their 50s', a match between the two will truly be a spectacle and another one of those once in a lifetime bouts'. In the past, both The Stinger and The Phenom have openly discussed the possibility of having a match against each other, with the latest example being Sting's very recent interview with Fite TV.

If Sting is to make a return to the Pro Wrestling industry for one final match then it should be against The Undertaker at WrestleMania and in my opinion, it should also mark the end of The Undertaker's illustrious Pro Wrestling career as well.

#1 Jeff Jarrett

Sting and Jeff Jarrett have a lot of history with each other, history which goes way back to 2005-2006 when The Stinger marked his return to TNA in dramatic fashion, by tormenting then NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Jarrett.

Sting and Jarrett shared the ring with each other on numerous occasions and had one of the best and most memorable rivalries for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. A rivalry which catapulted TNA as one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world, as it started to attract more mainstream viewers from all around the globe, thanks to a few legends of the business who helped the promotion grow in overall.

Sting's iconic rivalry with Jeff Jarrett lasted for almost a year, as the two eventually concluded their feud in late 2006 with Sting recapturing the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and becoming the longest superstar to recapture his second NWA title from 1990 to 2006.

With Jarrett making a return to the WWE earlier this year, this seems like the perfect opportunity to rekindle this iconic rivalry and have both the former NWA World Heavyweight Champions face off against each other one final time, this time in WWE ring.
