WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels made his return to WWE this week on Monday Night RAW, where he confronted Randy Orton for attacking Ric Flair last week. Unfortunately, and as predicted by many, Shawn Michaels ended up receiving an RKO and the Punt Kick from the legend killer on RAW.
The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels announced his retirement after the iconic "Streak vs Career" match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. Though he made a one-off return at Crown Jewel 2018 in Saudi Arabia where he teamed up with Triple H as D-Generation X to take on the Brothers of Destruction, The Undertaker, and Kane.
Even though HBK has mentioned that he won't be competing anymore, the saying in WWE goes - "never say never". With a plethora of world-class talent on the roster of WWE currently, there are so many dream matches for Shawn Michaels if he decides to step back in the ring again.

#5 Shawn Michaels vs Adam Cole
Ever since Shawn Michaels retired, there have been several Superstars who have been compared to him. But none probably has come as close to Adam Cole (Bay Bay). One look at the former NXT Champion and you can clearly see how alike he is to Shawn Michaels - both in looks as well as performance.
Shawn Michaels himself was all praises for Adam Cole during an appearance on WWE's The Bump.
“I certainly see what everybody is talking about. He’s unbelievably talented, he’s charismatic. And so yes, I do, I see…I certainly see the comparisons. I’m always flattered by that, Adam is an absolutely fabulous dude. He’s an incredible champion, he has carried the banner of NXT and the NXT Championship in a way that is going to be tough to match.”
Adam Cole also revealed on an interview with TVInsider about how honored he feels to be compared to a legend like Shawn Michaels.
"To me, there is no bigger compliment that someone could possibly say. Someone can say there are comparisons to Adam Cole and Shawn Michaels. It’s mind-blowing to me, especially when I’m thinking about nine-year-old me. Our entire generation can share this opinion that Shawn Michaels is the greatest pro wrestler of all-time to ever do it. He is the absolute best. So any time people make these comparisons, it’s incredibly humbling."
A match between Adam Cole and Shawn Michaels is a dream match for many and then some. We have seen the two share the screen on multiple occasions on NXT, but will we ever see the two wrestle each other? I sure wish we do!
#4 Shawn Michaels vs AJ Styles
Talking about dream matches, one of the biggest dream match that almost every WWE fan has wanted to see is that between Shawn Michaels and the Phenomenal One, AJ Styles. While Shawn Michaels is considered to be the greatest of the previous generation, the same compliments are given to Styles for being the best pro-wrestler currently.
Interestingly, WWE had plans to have this match at WrestleMania 33 but Shawn Michaels declined. During an interview with Sports Illustrated, AJ Styles mentioned that he would love to have a match with Shawn Michaels.
“I would love the opportunity to wrestle him. I’d love to learn from him, but who’s to say if that’s going to happen. Right now, it’s all speculation and rumors that I’m finding out like everyone else is, but man, what a match that would be.”
Even Shawn Michaels acknowledged that he would have loved to face AJ if he had joined WWE earlier, during his appearance on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast.
"I guess I'm breaking something with you and I don't even know if I should, but I could have had that match. They didn't have an opponent for AJ at WrestleMania. I said that I hadn't been asked because I hadn't—but then I was. ... I said, 'I wish that young man was here 10 years ago, man. I honestly do. I think he's very talented.'"
If Shawn Michaels decided to compete again, fans would love to see him go one-on-one with the Phenomenal One!
#3 Shawn Michaels vs Daniel Bryan
Shawn Michaels and Daniel Bryan share a long history together. It is a well-known fact that Shawn Michaels has trained Daniel Bryan during the latter's time at the Texas Wrestling Academy. There have been occasions in the past when it looked like WWE will be booking a "teacher vs student" feud between the two.
In 2013, Daniel Bryan won the WWE Championship from John Cena at SummerSlam, only for Triple H to deliver a pedigree to him, leading to Randy Orton cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Bryan to become the new champion.
Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan clashed at that year's Hell in a Cell PPV with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. In an interesting turn of events, Shawn Michaels cost Bryan the match leading to a heated confrontation between the two on RAW the next night. Daniel Bryan even went on to attack Michaels out of frustration and put him in the YES lock.
A match between Shawn Michaels and Daniel Bryan has a great story already setup. Who would prevail in the fight between the teacher and the student?
#2 Shawn Michaels vs Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins has been one of the biggest stars for WWE to emerge out of the last decade. From being the first NXT Champion to The Shield to his amazing singles run - both as a face and a heel, Seth Rollins has had a great career so far. He is also one of the many who have been compared to Shawn Michaels by the fans.
During an interview with Sky Sports, Seth Rollins revealed that Shawn Michaels was his greatest inspiration and mentioned that he would love to have a dream match with HBK.
"The dream match is easy for me, as that's Shawn Michaels. I don't know if that will ever happen but obviously he's coming back for this big-time match at Crown Jewel. Maybe some more [matches] are on the table, who knows? I think Shawn was the guy who made me feel like I could do what he was doing."
"He is someone who wasn't huge physically but he had a great personality, a ton of charisma, and a lot of fight in him. He is the guy who inspired me to push myself and think that maybe a small kid from Iowa could be a WWE superstar someday."
The two might not have a lot of history together, but the sheer quality of match that both of them, considering to be one of the best of their time, can have makes it a dream match for many. Shawn Michaels vs Seth Rollins? Just take my money and book it!
#1 Shawn Michaels vs Drew McIntyre
This week on Monday Night RAW, we saw Shawn Michaels confront Randy Orton for his actions. We also saw Shawn Michaels have a backstage confrontation with the WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre, praising him. At the end of the night, we saw McIntyre come out to check on Shawn Michaels after he was punted in the head by the Legend Killer.
Drew McIntyre is arguably the breakout star for WWE in the last couple of years. Ever since winning the 2020 men's Royal Rumble match, the Scottish Psychopath has been on a roll. Everything from his mic skills to in-ring work, to charisma, he has been spot on and WWE looks to have found a new star in him.
All the previous Superstars mentioned in the list have been comparable in size with Shawn Michaels. But we have seen how amazing HBK can work with "big guys", the best example being his great matches with The Undertaker.
Keeping that in mind, if Shawn Michaels decides to return to the ring again, I would personally love to see him go up against Drew McIntyre.
