5 Dream matches we could see at WWE Evolution

WWE Evolution could be monumental
WWE Evolution could be monumental

Ever since the announcement of WWE's first ever all-women's pay-per-view, Evolution, speculation has been rife about what possible matches we may see at the monumental event.

Streaming live on the WWE Network, the first ever all-women’s exclusive pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, October 28th from NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York--and several Superstars, past and present, have already been confirmed for the showcase of women's talent.

We know the show will feature Women’s Championship Matches from Monday Night RAW, SmackDown Live, NXT and NXT UK, as well as the final of the Mae Young Classic 2018--however, the question remains as to what dream matches could we see at the event? Could we perhaps see some once-in-a-lifetime clashes of past vs present/future?

Well, here's hoping that's the case, because the first ever Women's Royal Rumble teased some incredible things that could definitely be developed for the Evolution PPV. We know that WWE loves to go big with first-evers and make everything as grand as it can possibly be, so the possibilities for this show are endless.

Here are my top five matches that would make WWE Evolution even bigger than promised if announced--

#5 The Bella Twins vs The IIconics

So, the Bella Twins don't really count as "past" as neither Nikki nor Brie is retired. In fact, the pair were two of the final three in the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble, however when you think of matches they could just slot into this event, there's not a great deal of obvious options without bringing the twins back to WWE; imminently to start building a story.

One nifty match the pair could compete in would definitely be against a duo who, at times, are akin to the heel Bellas reincarnated and amplified times ten.

The IIconics, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, have been essentially a heel throwback since arriving in WWE, honing their craft in NXT and making a huge impact on SmackDown Live.

With the pair essentially costing Charlotte the SmackDown Women's Championship on their debut, the duo have shown their dangerous side as well.

A face Nikki and Brie Bella vs heel IIconics could be incredibly entertaining, to say the least!

#4 Mickie James vs Trish Stratus

W
What a throwback this was

Well, this one isn't a "dream match" as such, considering it's happened before, but the tease of Trish Stratus vs Mickie James one more time at the Royal Rumble received a rapturous ovation from the WWE Universe, and there's no doubt this pair have chemistry in the ring!

On one side, you have a six-time Women's Champion and on the other, a seven-time Women's Champion. Two true innovators of women's wrestling clashing at the first ever all women's pay-per-view would be a very fitting match.

In fact, Trish Stratus is already confirmed for the event and Mickie James even tweeted hinting at one more match between the pair...

Could we see this encounter one more time at Evolution? Time will tell.

#3 Nia Jax vs Beth Phoenix

What
What a showdown this was

Well, speaking of pops at the Women's Royal Rumble, this was undoubtedly one of the biggest! With WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix being one of the few women who can match the sheer strength and power of Nia Jax, this tease had the WWE Universe left desperate for more.

With Phoenix confirmed for Evolution, it seems like there's only one possible match for the Glamazon if she'll be competing in the ring.

With Phoenix transitioning to a commentary role recently, though, for the Mixed Match Challenge, you never know what role she may play at the all-women's pay-per-view.

One thing's for sure, Phoenix vs Jax would be an absolutely monumental spectacle and one not to be missed!

#2 WWE 's Four Horsewomen vs MMA's Four Horsewomen

A
An eight-woman tag match could be on the cards

So, talk about dream matches. We know this one will happen eventually and now may not be the right time with two of MMA's Horsewomen only making their in-ring debuts last week.

WWE's Four Horsewomen--Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley--are undoubtedly four of the biggest names in the company, and it's fair to say they've had their problems with their MMA counterparts.

MMA's Four Horsewomen--Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir--call themselves the true Four Horsewomen and all four are now signed with WWE, with Duke and Shafir even appearing in a video calling their main roster counterparts the "Faux Horsewomen" shortly after signing.

If WWE wants mainstream eyes on Evolution, this could be the perfect catalyst!

#1 Sasha Banks and Bayley vs Trish Stratus and Lita

The ultimate
The ultimate tag team match

So, WWE have spent the best part of the past year building what seemed like being the ultimate rivalry between Bayley and Sasha, which ultimately ended in them being paired up in what looks like a stick-on for the inaugural Women's Tag Team Champions whenever the titles are announced, if at all.

And, well, what better way to completely consolidate the pair as the top team in WWE than to have them face off against arguably two of the greatest ever?

We saw Trish and Lita in the Women's Royal Rumble and both have already been confirmed for Evolution. With neither missing a beat or looking a day older than when we last saw them compete, you'd have to wonder if a match may be on the cards for the pair.

Given the tiny snippet of Sasha vs Trish at the Rumble that left everyone clamoring for more, this could truly be the ultimate dream match to put the icing on the cake of such a historic show!
