5 great decisions taken by WWE in 2018 so far

Roman Reigns ended Brock Lesnar's 504-day reign as the Universal champion.

WWE is notorious for making some bizarre and illogical decisions when it comes to booking. Turning Braun Strowman heel, mistreating crowd favorites and John Cena defeating the Nexus at Summerslam 2010 are few decisions that still leaves a scar on true wrestling fan's mind.

However, there are some instances where WWE actually does something right, even inadvertently. This list will take a look at all some of those instances that happened recently. More precisely, today, we will be taking at some good decisions WWE has taken so far in 2018.

#5 Turning Randy Orton heel

Rand
Randy Orton has been brilliant since turning heel

Randy Orton is a natural heel. Making him babyface is something that is not worth it. Other than his face run in 2010-11, most of his face runs are quite forgettable. This is a guy who spat on Mick Foley and other legends. This is a guy who punted Vince and DDT'ed Stephanie in front of Triple H. Asking him to be a nice guy is asinine.

WWE had Randy run as a babyface since Elimination Chamber 2017. He was rendered irrelevant as soon as he lost his WWE championship to Jinder Mahal. He did not have a single memorable feud since then. But now he has turned heel and he is in one of the marquee feuds from Smackdown. With the new gimmick, the Viper looks rejuvenated since he is planning to take on every fan favorite wrestlers starting with Jeff Hardy.

#4 Turning Becky Anti-Hero

Becky Lynch

At Summerslam 2018, Becky Lynch turned on her best friend Charlotte after she "robbed" her title opportunity. But the fans refused to turn on Becky and cheered every punch Becky delivered on the Queen. WWE even had Becky cut a promo against the WWE universe - but even that did not go their way.

Thus WWE had no choice but to turn Becky anti-hero rather than a heel. And due to this, WWE probably has the best ever angle in their women's division's recent past.

#3 Intercontinental title Open Challenge

St
Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has been on fire since defeating both Roman Reigns and John Cena on the same episode of RAW. However, he was at the absolute peak of his face run after Wrestlemania when he started to defend his Intercontinental championship on every episode of RAW against anyone who wanted a title shot.

Similar to John Cena's US title open challenge, the Architect's open challenge produced some really great matches. There were times when the IC title became the focal point of RAW. Although it is inactive now, we hope it will come back sooner than later.

#2 Reigniting Miz - Bryan feud

Miz had
Miz verbally assaulted Bryan on Talking Smack

In a 2016 episode of Talking Smack, The Miz cut a savage promo on Daniel Bryan and took a shot at Indy wrestling. Ever since that, wrestling fans wanted a feud between the former NXT rookie and his pro. However, the chances of WWE clearing Bryan to wrestle in a WWE ring were little to none. But to everyone's surprise, Bryan was cleared in 2018.

During superstar shakeup after Wrestlemania 34, WWE traded Miz to Smackdown with the prime objective to reignite his feud with Bryan. WWE could have waited forever to pull the trigger on this, but they didn't and gave a match at Summerslam 2018. This feud is expected to last for some time and if WWE is truly behind this, we could see something spectacular.

#1 Having Brock Lesnar drop the Universal championship at Summerslam

Brock L
Brock Lesnar had a mammoth reign of 504 days

Brock Lesnar is a part-timer. He should be used as an attraction. However, Vince McMahon decided to put the top championship from RAW on the former UFC champion. That turned out to be a horrendous call as Raw saw a drop in ratings as well as attendance during the episodes without the top championship. Furthermore, this was a sign of deep disrespect to the full-time talents who work for more than 300 days and not get a single title reign.

Brock was expected to drop the title at Wrestlemania 34. However, due to crowd's negative reaction Roman Reigns, the creative decided to postpone the coronation of Roman Reigns to Summerslam when The Big Dog conquered The Beast become the new Universal champion.
