5 opponents for Dean Ambrose if he re-signs with WWE

Now, Dean Ambrose has just left WWE. At least, that is what they want us to believe. But the one thing that we can be certain of about WWE is that no-one ever really leaves them forever.

For example, no-one thought that Bret Hart would be back in the company after the Montreal Screwjob episode. But then in 2006, he was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame and then in 2009, he signed a contract with the company.

So, keeping that in mind, it is almost a certainty that we will see Dean Ambrose in WWE someday. In fact, there are reports of him returning in six months’ time as he is just taking a break from the company now.

As a result, let us assume that the report is true and if it is, let us delve further into the world of imagination and take a look at the 5 wrestlers he could feud against after he returns…

#5 Seth Rollins

We shall start with the least likely option. Seth Rollins is Dean Ambrose’s Shield brother but the two have feuded in the past. In fact, some of Ambrose’s best work was against the current WWE Universal Champion.

After Rollins first turned against the Shield, Ambrose vowed to make his life hell and he did just that. He tried to sabotage many of Rollins’ matches and also once stole his Money in the Bank briefcase.

When he returned it to Rollins and when The Architect opened it, his face was sprayed with gooey green liquid in what remains of the most hilarious moments of the PG era.

Ambrose once again feuded against Rollins last year but it was short-lived. He left on good terms with Rollins, so it is unlikely for him to feud against him again – unless Rollins still has the WWE Universe Title when he returns.

Then, a case could be made.

#4 Bray Wyatt

Another Superstar with whom Ambrose shared some great moments, the rivalry between Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose is something that has a natural feel to it.

I mean, think about it. Dean Ambrose is called a lunatic due to his crazy persona. Meanwhile, Bray Wyatt’s character has a messiah complex and is another type of crazy, which gives this rivalry natural feel.

The duo feuded back in 2014 when Bray Wyatt cost Ambrose his Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins. After that, there was plenty of heat between the two as Wyatt brought up Ambrose’s alcoholic father while Ambrose broke the chair of Sister Abigail.

The rivalry had some great matches and ended when Ambrose lost to Wyatt in an ambulance match. While Wyatt is currently away from WWE right now, he is expected to return with some changes in his character.

And who knows, a newly returned Dean Ambrose against a newly developed character of Wyatt might just be the way to go.

#3 Kevin Owens

Right now, Kevin Owens is a face and I have a feeling that when Ambrose returns, he shall come back as a face – just as how he left. And if my hunch is true, then a feud against Owens could be at its best if the Canadian is a heel at the time.

With Kevin Owens, it is only a matter of time as to when he turns heel. He is someone who is so natural in that role that it feels like he was born to play such a character.

Ambrose, meanwhile, had a bout against him before when Owens had the Intercontinental Title. Dean Ambrose won the title match against Owens at TLC, winning his first Intercontinental Title.

They had a great match at Last Man Standing at Royal Rumble 2016 and the feud ended when the Lunatic Fringe lost the title to Owens in a Fatal Five-Way match on Raw.

The in-ring ability of these two and their natural characters really complement each other and I feel like there is more left for the two of them to show in a feud.

#2 Brock Lesnar

Right after ending the feud against Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose began a feud with Brock Lesnar. This was the feud further cemented Ambrose’s character as the Lunatic Fringe as he gave some memorable moments against the Beast Incarnate.

It all began when Brock Lesnar attacked him before their Triple Threat #1 contender match that also included Roman Reigns at Fastlane. Reigns won that match and Lesnar was furious and wanted retribution as he slammed the Lunatic Fringe through the windshield of a limousine in the parking lot the following night just before Raw began.

All throughout the feud, Ambrose showed his lunatic side as he kept asking Lesnar to beat him down as much as he can. Sadly, the feud ended with a loss for Ambrose at WrestleMania 32 but it felt like Ambrose still had unfinished business with Lesnar as he didn’t get proper revenge for all the beatdown.

#1 Bobby Lashley

And this is the best and likeliest opponent for Dean Ambrose. After all, Bobby Lashley is the man that insinuated lewd remarks against Ambrose’s wife Renee Young in the Lunatic Fringe’s last appearance on Raw.

While Ambrose did beat Lashley a lot after that, the Almighty had the last laugh as he slammed the Lunatic Fringe through the table before Renee Young left the commentary table to check on her husband.

So, should Ambrose return, the situation is perfectly setup for him to attack Bobby Lashley. It would be an epic bout given the backstory that it has. Also, pairing up with a big name like Ambrose would also do Lashley a world of good as he is looking to take a step up in his career.
