5 Opponents for Randy Orton after his loss to Edge at WrestleMania 36

WrestleMania 36 saw some new Champions emerge while several men and women were able to fight off their competition and retain their coveted crowns.

However, some matches were not about titles or brands. Instead, they were about ending what was started weeks or months ago and ensuring that grudge rivalries came to an end.

Edge returned to WWE during the 2020 Royal Rumble and shook up the company to its core. Randy Orton, Edge's longtime friend, did not take his return well and went on to attack Edge and the ones he loved week after week. This led to a Last Man Standing match between the two men.

While Orton was the more prepared star for the fight, The Rated-R Superstar was not ready to back down and the two men fought for over 35 minutes on the show. In the end, Edge picked up the victory and left a huge mark on Orton's career.

In this article, we will look at the five Superstars who Orton could get into a feud with next after his loss at WrestleMania 36.

#5 Samoa Joe

Joe will be looking for a return feud soon

RAW’s Samoan Submission Machine has had a rough 2020 thus far. Samoa Joe suffered an injury early on that led to him joining the RAW announce team. He later joined Kevin Owens' resistance against Seth Rollins’ faction.

However, he was soon suspended for 30 days after violating WWE’s wellness policy. It was later revealed that he suffered another concussion while filming a TV commercial for RAW.

While Joe is out of competition, his suspension is set to come to an end soon as he may be fit to compete in the ring again. If that ends up being the case, the newly turned babyface could take on RAW’s most cunning heel to climb the ladder quickly.

Orton will be looking for a new victim to target to stay in the upper mid-card. And, Joe is one man who needs to stay at the top of RAW at a time when several Superstars are either taking a break or are out with injuries.

Having these two Superstars go against each other could give fans a chance to see two of the best Superstars go head to head as Joe usually plays a heel.

#4 Ricochet

A mid-card rivalry between these two men could be epic!
A mid-card rivalry between these two men could be epic!

Ricochet has been one of RAW’s premiere babyfaces for some time now. The One and Only has taken on heels like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe and managed to score some big victories over them.

His biggest moment this year came when he stood up to WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, and the two got in a match for WWE Super ShowDown. However, his greatest fall came during the match as Lesnar squashed the highflyer and he’s been stuck in mixed bookings ever since.

Late last year, WWE was teasing a rivalry between Ricochet and Randy Orton during which we saw some high spots and even hints of Orton turning face.

The rivalry never really materialized, even though fans believed that the two Superstars could put on some stellar matches against one another.

Since Ricochet is currently going on without any direction, and Orton needs to look for a new target, we could watch The Viper come after Ricochet to try and end his career short.

This would be a great way to have Ricochet come back to prominence and possibly get a push through the veteran Superstar.

#3 AJ Styles

Another rivalry that could have taken off this year was the one between AJ Styles and Randy Orton. During the buildup to Royal Rumble, Orton and Styles were doing a great job at building their rivalry and we saw shades of Orton turning face in the process.

However, an injury to Styles during the Royal Rumble match and a shift in focus to a rivalry between Edge and Orton cut that feud short. Styles moved on to a rivalry with The Undertaker, and the story between The Phenomenal One and The Viper was largely forgotten.

WWE could take this opportunity to revisit their rivalry and take it to new heights before bringing it to a big conclusion. Styles, just like Orton, has lost to a legend at WrestleMania and will be looking for a chance to go after a new opponent.

We could also see Orton assemble a team just like he did with The Revival some time ago and go after Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson. Will he look to Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo again to help him take on the heel team?

#2 Aleister Black

Randy Orton has done it all and won it all in WWE, and we could watch the Superstar look to give a boost to some newer Superstars.

Aleister Black is one man who seems like the future of not just RAW, but the entire WWE. And, he is someone who could benefit from a rub from a legendary Superstar.

During his time out of NXT, Black has only had a handful of rivalries against Superstars like Cesaro and Buddy Murphy. However, he’s mostly battled against enhancement talent and hasn’t had a long and fruitful rivalry with any Superstar yet which is almost criminal.

Black needs some top rivalries and we saw him pick up a big victory against Bobby Lashley last night which will help him get ahead on the Red brand. WWE should allow The Dutch Destroyer a shot against the veteran Orton who could give the Superstar some top matches.

Many fans have compared Black to Orton. A rivalry between the two men will give Black a chance to get up on RAW and get nearer to the WWE Championship scene. Besides this, it will also give Orton a chance to give back to the company that has helped him become one of the greatest sports entertainers of all time.

#1 Drew McIntyre

Speaking of the WWE Championship scene, things have just gotten really interesting after Drew McIntyre scored the biggest victory of his entire career last night.

Not only did McIntyre slay The Beast in his first match against him, but he also managed to pick up the WWE Championship in the process to reach the top of the Red brand.

Now that there’s a new Champion in town who is playing a babyface character, he will require a major heel to take on early in his reign to come across as a big threat to the rest of the roster.

There is still no bigger heel in WWE than Randy Orton. And, even in defeat, he comes across as the better Superstar and someone who can jump to the next rivalry without losing any heat or value.

The 13-time World Champion will be the perfect first opponent for Orton, and we all know that both Superstars are no strangers to each other.

While WWE builds more Superstars and heel to come toe to toe with McIntyre, Orton will be the tailormade heel they need to work as The Scottish Psychopath’s first challenger.
