5 Opponents for Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 34

It may not be incorrect to say that Rey Mysterio was a superstar who was born in the wrong era. But even then, coming into the business at a time when the big guys ruled the yard, he carved a niche for himself as a true standout performer.

From the WCW Cruiserweight Division to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, his journey was truly exemplary. What's amazing is that even at the age of 43, Rey Mysterio can still go! He proved this and more, when he appeared at the Royal Rumble.

Much of the WrestleMania card has been finalized, but we're certain that the company can certainly squeeze Rey Mysterio in. After all, he is Rey Mysterio.

Yes, he is affiliated with Aro Lucha, but Cageside Seats reports that he is still in talks with WWE for another run.

#5 Third entrant in the WWE Cruiserweight Championship match

Mysterio could really amp up the excitement for the match

A 16-man single elimination tournament is underway right now to crown a brand new Cruiserweight Champion, after the events that transpired with the previous champion, Enzo Amore. The finals of the tournament will take place at WrestleMania 34.

Imagine Drake Maverick coming out before the match begins. He sizes up the two competitors and announces that this will now be a Triple Threat match. Rey Mysterio steps in and mixes it up with the two tournament finalists thereafter.

If Rey Mysterio wins the match and joins 205 Live as an active competitor, the brand will definitely benefit from his presence and incredible legacy. If this is a one-off appearance and he rides into the sunset, the triumphant Cruiserweight Champion will get the rub from Mysterio.

#4 Shane McMahon's tag team partner

Mysterio could be the perfect ally for Shane McMahon

Let us begin by saying that Daniel Bryan would have been the ideal babyface to team up with Shane McMahon and take out Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. However, the world is unfair and Daniel Bryan has to sit on the sidelines while other superstars make merry.

Enter Rey Mysterio. SmackDown Live has seemed like a brand that has been a little short staffed in the 'megastar' front and they desperately need someone like Rey Mysterio in that coveted role. Shane McMahon and Rey Mysterio could be a formidable unit against the dastardly unit of Kevin Owens and his guardian angel, Sami Zayn.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are two superstars that get cheered even though they are the heels. However, even they would get booed out of the building if and when they take on the delightful tandem that comprises Shane McMahon and Rey Mysterio.

Most importantly, imagine the amazing match that performers of this caliber would be able to put together, if given a real chance.

#3 Fourth entrant in the big Intercontinental Championship match

Could Rey Mysterio claim The Miz's highly prestigious title?

The Miz will square off against Seth Rollins and Finn Balor at WrestleMania for the Intercontinental Championship. Now, we all know that anything could happen at WrestleMania, when one least expects it to!

Remember how the Hardy Boyz were added to the RAW Tag Team Championship match? Imagine Rey Mysterio being introduced as an entrant in this big match!

Mysterio has been very vocal about wanting to face Finn Balor in a WWE ring. His dream could certainly come true, at WrestleMania 34.

We can't think of anyone, including the participants in the match, that would be disappointed if Mysterio was added to this match.

#2 Dolph Ziggler's WrestleMania 34 opponent

Ziggler has re-signed with WWE, and he needs a strong opponent

Dolph Ziggler is constantly grouchy about not being given his due in WWE, both in storyline and maybe even in life. This is not unjustified, considering how talented the man is. Also, considering just how far down the totem pole the man has fallen. One of the things he keeps repeating is how he's the best 'in-ring performer of all time'.

Imagine if Rey Mysterio shows up to challenge Ziggler's claim on SmackDown Live. The two men could have an interesting back and forth in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania 34. And then, they could put on a clinic at the 'Grandest Stage of them All'.

Ziggler is certainly deserving of an opportunity like this. We're only weeks away from WrestleMania 34, and he doesn't even have a real match yet.

#1 Braun Strowman's tag team partner

Braun Strowman and Rey Mysterio vs. The Bar should be quite a delight to watch!

WWE thrives on the shocking visual of a major difference in height. This was the reason they paired Braun Strowman with Alexa Bliss in the Mixed Match Challenge tournament. It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to see Strowman paired up with Rey Mysterio. Imagine the kind of match they could have with The Bar.

This David and Goliath team could revive the Tag Team Division, going forward. After all, the division, thus far, has almost invariably revolved around The Bar. Mysterio and Strowman can make things quite interesting.
