5 people who will be negatively affected by Roman Reigns dropping out of WrestleMania 36

WrestleMania just won't be the same without Roman Reigns.

WWE has just announced that Roman Reigns is dropping out of his Universal Championship match against Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 and the move is creating a lot of chaos among fans. Questions are even starting to be raised about who Goldberg's new opponent will be and if the company has time to build up a feud for the Universal title.

Whether WWE can manage to put something together or not, remains to be seen. What they do will depend on what they think is best for business, but there is no doubt that they are at a disadvantage here. It is also evident that whoever ends up being Reigns' replacement could be in a tough spot, which is also something to be considered.

With that being said, Roman Reigns is now officially ruled out of WrestleMania 36. Here are five people who will be negatively affected by the move. As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to tell us who you believe should take Reigns' place at The Show of Shows.

#5. King Corbin

Should King Corbin be Roman Reign's replacement at WrestleMania 36?
Should King Corbin be Roman Reign's replacement at WrestleMania 36?

While many might scratch their head at the thought of King Corbin being negatively affected by this, one has to remember that it was The King that prepared Roman Reigns for his eventual battle with Goldberg. Unfortunately for Corbin, his big loss at Super ShowDown inside a steel cage seems to mean absolutely nothing now.

As negative as that might sound, it is impossible to dispute that the match was supposed to serve as a stepping stone for Reigns to move on to a feud with Goldberg. With that being said, and Corbin being cast into a midcard feud with Elias after months of great matches it's pretty obvious that he has come out the worst in this situation.

In the end, if WWE knew what was going to happen over the next few weeks, maybe they would have picked Corbin to chase after the Universal title. Heck, maybe they wouldn't have even taken the title off of The Fiend and instead put Bray Wyatt's newest creation up against Corbin at WrestleMania 36.

The 'what if's here are endless.

#4. Whoever ends up being Goldberg's new opponent.

Who will be next to challenge Goldberg?
Who will be next to challenge Goldberg?

While some might believe the next person chosen to be Goldberg's opponent at WrestleMania 36 is the luckiest man alive, they are actually in a very vulnerable and temporary position. In fact, between WWE firmly invested in making Roman Reigns their top guy and his absence is seemingly temporary, it's not going to be long before they want to make the switch.

In all honesty, that means whoever ends up being Goldberg's opponent at WrestleMania 36 is just going to be a stop-gap Champion at best and another victim at worst. Either way, it doesn't put the receiving Superstar in a very good position and might even end up cheapening the Universal title in the process.

Keep in mind that none of this is WWE's fault in any way, shape, or form, and is only the result of built-up resentment by fans. Also, it is worth noting that fans will probably be receptive of Reigns eventually winning the Universal title down the road, but whoever he takes it from will still just be a stop-gap Champion.

#3. The WWE Universe

This is a huge loss for The WWE Universe.
This is a huge loss for The WWE Universe.

It's no secret that the WWE Universe is absolutely in love with Roman Reigns right now and while it took a long time to get there, it was worth the journey. In fact, between watching Reigns finally come into his own as a wrestler and improve drastically on the microphone, it was extremely rewarding to watch him morph into his final form.

And that's why watching Roman Reigns have to drop out of WrestleMania is so difficult to see. Not only does it undo all the work that WWE put into him as their top guy, but also by how it robs him of his crowning moment. What makes it worse is the fact that fans were fully willing to accept him as their top guy this time around.

If nothing else, WWE had all the pieces in place to finally give Reigns his crowning moment and it has to be hard for fans to see it fall through again. It also has to make fans wonder whether Reigns will ever truly get his moment in the sun and how successful the company is going to be at trying this all over again.

#2. Goldberg

Goldberg isn't in a very good spot here.
Goldberg isn't in a very good spot here.

Believe it or not, Goldberg is now in one of the worst situations of his entire career. In fact, between being the guy that ended The Fiend's streak at Super ShowDown, and losing out on all the momentum that had been built-up to WrestleMania with Roman Reigns, the former WCW Superstar is very much a paper champion at this point.

Think about it this way. Now, on top of the resentment that fans already feel towards him for ending the streak, the company has to find a way to build up a feud for him within two weeks. That's not going to be an easy thing to accomplish by any stretch of the imagination and could seriously damage the reputation of the Universal title in the process.

In the end, Goldberg isn't popular with the WWE Universe already and the fact that the company has to go back to the drawing board is only going to worsen that. Of course, that could end up working in the company's favor if they milk it in the right way, but it's still a long shot at this point.

#1. The Fiend

Why couldn't WWE just keep the title on The Fiend?
Why couldn't WWE just keep the title on The Fiend?

WWE shocked the world at Super ShowDown when Goldberg pinned The Fiend in under five minutes to win the Universal title and a lot of people were left to wonder why. Furthermore, fans were left to wonder whether this was a sign that the company was giving up on the character or if they simply had something else in mind.

The WWE Universe would seemingly get an answer to that question later on when it was rumored that the company did this to have a match with more mainstream appeal, but it was still a shocking move. It was also a move that caused a lot of resentment from fans due to them wanting The Fiend in the title picture at WrestleMania, which only made things worse.

With that being said, and Reigns dropping out of his Universal title match with Goldberg at WrestleMania, it seems like all of that maneuvering was for nothing. As if that wasn't enough, it appears as if WWE handed The Fiend a loss for next to no reason at Super ShowDown and need to find a way to get the character back on track.
