The WWE Royal Rumble could see quite a few betrayals among close allies

The WWE Royal Rumble is only a day away. The event is known for its surprise returns during Rumble matches. However, it also kickstarts the road to WrestleMania for WWE. Fans can find the breadcrumbs of a few interesting storylines leading to the Rumble.

One way WWE has always started some of its most heated feuds is a superstar betraying a friend or an ally. That's the case this time as well, with several storylines leading to a possible betrayal.

Fans can watch the LIVE coverage of WWE Royal Rumble 2022 on SONY TEN 1 (English), SONY TEN 3 (Hindi), and SONY TEN 4 (Tamil and Telugu) channels on January 30, 2022, from 6:30 am (IST).

With that being the case, let's take a look at five possible betrayals at the WWE Royal Rumble.

#5 Royal Rumble betrayals: Dominik turns on Rey Mysterio

Dominik and Rey Mysterio have already shown that they are ready to stand up for themselves in the 30-man match. The two stars have been teasing their split for a while, but it never materialized.

The experienced superstar has undoubtedly taken it as an opportunity to teach his son what to look out for in the rather brutal wrestling world.

Dominik's ambition to step out from under the shadow cast by his father would not do too well if Rey eliminates him from the Rumble. In fact, he might look at it as a personal affront, and that could be the last straw for him.

An infuriated Dominik could then assault and eliminate his father as well, leading to a feud between the father-son duo that could finally see the young man come into his own.

This could even lead to a feud to WrestleMania and ultimately might even be the feud that Rey Mysterio uses to retire from wrestling altogether.

#4 Royal Rumble Betrayals: Madcap Moss turns on Happy Corbin

Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin are doing well as a heel duo. Their chemistry helped them stand out, and the latter did exceptionally well with his gimmick.

However, over time, it has gotten quite stale. They need something to shake them up - Moss specifically.

While Corbin is quite suited to the character, Moss might try and stand out on his own more. The best way to do this would be to betray his mentor at the Royal Rumble. Corbin and Moss turning on one another might lead to an interesting feud.

#3 Royal Rumble Betrayals: Maryse turns on The Miz

The Miz and Maryse are in for the fight of their lives, facing Edge and Beth Phoenix in a mixed tag team match.

While Edge and Beth have shown a united front, Maryse and The Miz have witnessed some cracks in their foundation. With the latter taking things too far at times, it's possible that Maryse finally snaps, slaps her husband, and leaves him to the mercy of the Grit Couple.

#2 Royal Rumble betrayals: The cracks will appear between Randy Orton and Riddle

Randy Orton and Riddle have been some of the best parts of WWE TV over the last year. The unlikely chemistry between the two has done wonders. However, WWE fans know that all tag teams come with a timer. Most of them break up, and the partners who had been working so well together start feuding.

Orton and Riddle will likely break up at some point soon, and the first cracks could show themselves at the Royal Rumble. In the spirit of competition, if Riddle eliminates Orton this year, then the two of them will eventually begin feuding.

Orton does not appreciate others getting in the way of his success, and he would not tolerate something like this. It could also be the starting point of their feud heading into WrestleMania.

#1 Royal Rumble betrayals: Paul Heyman will betray Brock Lesnar

Paul Heyman conveniently reunited with Brock Lesnar soon after the Beast Incarnate's return. He is currently siding with the WWE Champ as he defends his title against Bobby Lashley.

However, if he is only pretending to side with Lesnar and is still working for Roman Reigns, this would be the perfect chance to betray Lesnar and cost him the title. That would lead to Lesnar hunting him down and eventually going after Reigns, resuming the feud from WWE Day 1.
