5 Reasons why WWE left Sasha Banks out of the Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Something better coming her way?

Surprisingly enough, this week's SmackDown played out much better than its previous shows since COVID-19 changed the landscape of the sporting industry. The Money In The Bank Ladder Match picture was made clearer and the WWE Universe is closer to witnessing one of its favorite Superstars climb the ladder and retrieve the briefcase that gives him/her the ultimate advantage for challenging the reigning champion.

Many of us must have expected Sasha Banks to go on to beat Lacey Evans in her MITB qualifying match this week. It looked like the best opportunity to cash in on the issues Bayley and Banks have been facing in their relationship. WWE swerved us and gave us what was rather unexpected. We will see Lacey Evans challenge for the MITB Briefcase on May 10th.

This decision caught the WWE Universe by surprise and I am one of them. It's hard to wonder why WWE wouldn't pull the trigger and have The Boss qualify for the Ladder Match to win it and cash in her briefcase on her long time friend Bayley. Nevertheless, here I am trying to reason out WWE's decsion.

#5 WWE is still sour with The Boss

Sasha Banks was on a hiatus from the WWE
Sasha Banks was on a hiatus from the WWE

Back in 2019, at the Elimination Chamber PPV, Banks and Bayley became the inaugural WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. However, their reign was shortlived as they lost the belts in 49 days at WrestleMania 35 to the IIconics. This didn't settle well with The Boss and she cancelled an appearance on a talk show the next day.

According to Bayley and Banks, they were promised a long reign so that they could bring legitimacy to the Womens' Tag Team Titles. Be that as it may, they weren't informed that they would be losing the belts until the very last minute.

Rumor had it that Banks was unhappy with the decision and was planning on walking out on the WWE but no official statement from either of the parties was made public. We saw Banks return after four months in a blue hair avatar. While she has had a credible run as a heel, she was missing from the Royal Rumble and now from the MITB ladder match. Maybe deep down, WWE has lost faith in The Boss?

#4 A chance for other Superstars to shine

Add Lacey Evans to the mix
Add Lacey Evans to the mix

Sasha Banks has had a very illustrious career in the WWE. She has been in the Hell in a Cell match, Ironman Match, and MITB Ladder Match. She is already a star and doesn't need the push that the competitors in the Women's Money In The Bank Match do.

When you look at the competitors, all of them could do good from winning or having a strong showing in the Ladder Match on May 10th. Nia Jax made her return recently and will be looking to reinstate herself as a dominant player in the eyes of the WWE Universe.

Asuka is still a fan-favorite but is a shell of her former self. She has the longest undefeated streak in WWE history at 914 days but her consistent losses to Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and recently losing the Tag Team Titles to Alexa Biss and Nikki Cross has her lost in the mix.

Shayna Bazler has made her name for herself in the Octagon as well as the Squared Circle. The former NXT Women's Champion surprised everyone when she made her debut on RAW and sunk her teeth into Lynch's neck. She was close to winning the RAW Women's Title at WrestleMania but The Man got lucky. This is her chance to get one step closer to the main roster gold.

Dana Brooke is easily the dark horse to win this match but if she grabs this opportunity and shows the fans that she isn't here to be forgotten, then we may just see her winning the Women's Championship by the end of 2020. Brooke hasn't held the gold in her seven-year-long career but that may change after May 10th.

Lastly, Lacey Evans has been in the title picture for almost a year now and hasn't disappointed the fans one bit. She has been inches away from laying her hand on her first WWE Title but somehow came up short. This is her shot at glory that almost guarantees her winning the Women's Championship that has eluded her.

#3 Milking the awaited implosion

Is it too soon?
Is it too soon?

Sasha Banks and Bayley share a rich history. They have been friends and foes throughout their stay on WWE. They have fought it out in the first-ever Women's Ironman Match in NXT, been bitter rivals for the Women's Championships on RAW and SmackDown, have had backstage brawls and have even won the Women's Tag Team Titles together.

Their love-hate relationship has given us unforgettable matches and made countless memories. Bayley, for the first time in her career, turned heel to help Banks defeat Becky Lynch on RAW. Banks returned the favor by aiding Bayley in retaining the SmackDown Women's Title at WrestleMania.

This week, however, Bayley cost Banks her shot at the Money In The Bank Ladder Match as the referee was distracted by her when The Boss had Lacey Evans down for the three count. This is a huge blow to their friendship and only time will tell whether Sasha Banks will forget about the one-off mishap by her friend.

The fans are waiting for this implosion to occur but maybe WWE wants to play it out a bit more and hit the fans with the Banks' turn when they least expect it.

#2 Sasha Banks is the next challenger

Will we see the implosion sooner than expected?
Will we see the implosion sooner than expected?

WWE is known for surprising its fans when they least expect it. With Banks' loss to Evans this week due to an outside distraction caused by Bayley, the fans don't see the duo imploding anytime soon. When better to hit your fans with a shocking moment when they least expect it.

Maybe Sasha Banks doesn't forgive Bayley for her interference and costs her the SmackDown Women's Championship at Money In The Bank. Or better yet, while celebrating her win over Tamina, Banks blindsides Bayley, ending their alliance and naming herself as the next challenger for the Title.

WWE loves to keep its fans guessing and this is one feud the WWE Universe is ready for. WWE may as well pull the trigger at the Money In The Bank PPV and get eyes on the product. This rivalry has the potential to make good television for at least two months and adding the uncertainty of the MITB cash in will only make people tune into SmackDown every week.

#1 Reunion of the Boss 'n' Hug Connection

The Boss 'n' Hug Connection
The Boss 'n' Hug Connection

Bayley has been SmackDown Women's Champion for over six months and has beaten most of her competitors to retain the title. WWE may go ahead with putting the belt on Tamina at Money In The Bank or we may see a cash in the same night.

This may lead to Bayley and Banks realizing that they work best when they are a team with a common goal in mind. That goal is the Women's Tag Team Titles. They can go back to teaming up and becoming the most dominant women's tag team in WWE history.

This may upset fans who are waiting for the implosion between the two but this can be used to milk that implosion and the loss of the titles can lead to a feud between the two. This gives them the run that was initially promised to them and bring eyes on the Women's Tag Team Titles that has otherwise lost its relevance on the shows.
