5 things that shouldn't have happened on RAW - 28th May, 2018

Seriously?
Seriously?

This week's RAW didn't have much in store for viewers. This may be because of the holiday celebrated in America. The show had too many fillers and nothing for the fans to go berserk or chant out their favorite wrestler's names.

Sportskeeda is the one-stop destination for latest WWE rumors and wrestling news.

The show started with a Braun Strowman and Finn Balor segment that concluded in a rematch from last week. The match was indeed better than the one they had last week but had a few repetitive spots. But Kevin Owens' commentary and the way he verbally provoked both men definitely entertained viewers.

The match card of MITB shaped up with announcements of Lashley facing Zayn, Reigns facing Mahal and Sasha Banks becoming the final competitor in the MITB Ladder Match. This episode of RAW had too many fillers and one wouldn't have missed much by not tuning in.

Let us look at five things that could have been easily avoided this week or could have been in a better way.

#5 Elias' not striking a chord

Elias was used as a filler
Elias was used as a filler

Sadly this week, Elias was used more like a filler than a wrestler. Elias started his segment the way he usually does by uniting the WWE Universe in confirming what WWE stands for. But sadly after that, Elias didn't really play his song that usually takes cheap shots at the hometown crowd.

Instead, Elias said a sentence or two to disrespect the crowd before trying to solve some technical issues. From that point on, even Elias didn't know how to waste time and fill in until Seth Rollins and Mahal were ready to do battle for the Intercontinental Title.

Things got even worse when the fans started yelling at The Drifter making it clear that they wanted him to leave but Elias just sat there acting oblivious to the chants.

It was Seth Rollins who finally made his way to the ring and saved us all from this dead segment. He threw Elias' stool out of the ring and finally Elias left the ring and made his way to the back.

Elias has always enthralled the crowd with his songs and the crowd loves to boo him. Elias did make the crowd boo him on this episode as well, but the way it was done lacked the true Elias charisma and thus the segment felt underwhelming.

After Elias' win over Bobby Roode, a man who has qualified for the MITB Ladder match, last week, you would have hoped to see Elias doing something more relevant or at least not be killing time.

Elias did attack Rollins from behind after Rollins' match against Mahal. Hopefully, this sets up a match between them that could lead to a feud that Elias truly deserves.

#4 The Women's Title picture lost heat that it gained last week

Stephanie McMahon needs to be here every week
Stephanie McMahon needs to be here every week

After what was a very bland challenge made by Nia Jax and an even more insipid acceptance by Ronda Rousey, the feud between the two gained some heat last week. This week's dismal build to the match just goes to prove how important Stephanie McMahon was last week. She played an anchoring role in taking this feud forward.

This week, it seemed like Nia Jax tried too hard to make a statement. The match would have gone on fine had Jax played the role of the dominator without the verbal breaks in between. It was clear that the RAW Women's Champion wanted to send a message to the No. 1 Contender. It would have been better if she pointed at Rousey after every move and squashed her opponent quickly.

We all know that Rousey struggles with her words on the mic, and today's episode proved that Jax is not very different. Her statements lacked the fire or the intimidation that they should have had. Since Rousey isn't that great on the mic yet, she should have tried to distract Jax and aided her opponent in picking up a victory.

It will be interesting to see how WWE play this feud out because as of now, there is very little keeping the fans riveted to the forthcoming title match.

#3 Rollins getting himself disqualified

Seth Rollins defended the Intercontinental Title against Jinder Mahal in this week's episode of RAW. After last week's attack by Mahal on Rollins, Rollins was determined to seek retribution on The Modern Day Maharaja. The match was exciting and had many good spots. The Architect is on a roll right now and can make any match a good one right now.

Jinder Mahal did use the steel chair in an attempt to pick up a victory against the IC Champion, but Rollins kicked out just before the referee counted to three. Later on, when Sunil Singh distracted the champion, something snapped in Rollins' head and he took the chair and nailed Mahal with it and got himself disqualified.

It would have been better if Roman Reigns came out to help Rollins out, but considering Reigns absence, Elias should have attacked Rollins during the match just before pinning Mahal.

#2 No momentum for Bobby Roode

Roode has been on a losing streak
Roode has been on a losing streak

Tonight wasn't any different for Bobby Roode when compared with last week. Last week, The Glorious One lost clean to Elias and this week he lost clean to Kevin Owens. Ever since Roode has qualified for the Money In The Bank Ladder Match, he has been losing clean to whoever he is facing.

Roode needs some momentum going into the MITB PPV and until now, he has none. Not only did he lose to Owens clean but also was made to look really silly by instigating Braun Strowman to powerslam Kevin Owens. Braun Strowman went one step ahead and powerslammed Roode too.

Roode came off as the ultimate loser this week with a back to back losses and getting powerslammed by Strowman just for being around. Roode should be booked to look as dominating as other competitors so that he can be taken seriously by the WWE Universe.

#1 An uneventful gauntlet match

Sasha Banks survived the gauntlet match
Sasha Banks is going to compete in the MITB Ladder Match

The main event of the night featured a gauntlet match to determine the final entrant to the MITB Women's Ladder Match. The match finally saw Sasha Banks picking up the win to punch her ticket to MITB.

Sasha Banks picking up the win wasn't a bad idea. But there could have been so much more built during this match. Ruby Riott, who has proven herself time and again could have been put over Sasha Banks.

Liv Morgan played the part of a jobber. This was the perfect opportunity for her to show the WWE Universe that she is not just another pretty face in the WWE. Bayley made quick work of her and eliminated her from the match.

Sasha Banks and Bayley should have squared up against each other, preferably being the final two competitors, to give the "feud" that they are having some possible heat.

The crowd wasn't really invested in this match and had WWE tried any of the above stunts, the fans would be enthralled and riveted to the match.
