5 Things that WWE and Vince McMahon shouldn't do at any cost at WrestleMania 36

Goldberg remaining Universal Champion after WrestleMania would be a mistake
Goldberg remaining Universal Champion after WrestleMania would be a mistake

As the world shuts down around us, WWE chooses to continue their programming and kudos to them for having the guts to do so in the light of all that's happening across the globe. It's just a shame that their flagship event- WrestleMania, the spectacle to end all spectacles has been so very badly hit because of the events around us.

And yet, that does not mean that they're home scot-free yet, because WrestleMania without a crowd should be a very unique experience, and needs to be booked in a very careful manner indeed. So, with that said, here are 5 mistakes that WWE cannot make when it comes to WrestleMania this year, in my personal opinion, at least.

Be sure to leave a comment and let me know your thoughts and your views. Do you agree with my points, or do you think some of the points that I've jotted are incorrect?

Of course, I've singled out the boss Vince McMahon, because ultimately, he's the authority with regards to all booking. So, with that said, I begin my list.

#5 Having Goldberg remain the WWE Universal Champion

Goldberg is not going to be on the road, working every live event for WWE. As a result of the same, I don't think it makes sense to have Roman Reigns lose to Goldberg. Roman Reigns is a considerably younger man than the current WWE Universal Champion, and there's a lot of equity in having him stand tall at WrestleMania.

This past week on WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns rattled off the names of all of the legendary Superstars that he has defeated, icons and legends in the sport. Goldberg could be another such name added to his list, to make Roman Reigns 'the guy' of this era.

#4 Make Brock Lesnar retain the WWE Championship

Drew McIntyre does not merely look like a WWE Champion but also someone who could possibly step into a television show like Game of Thrones or Vikings. Whether he is in the ring delivering one Claymore after another or wielding a blade above his head, there are few athletes in the world that look like Drew McIntyre.

And yes, while not everyone beats Brock Lesnar, it may be time for Drew McIntyre to ascend to that throne. Brock Lesnar has absolutely dominated everyone in his path thus far from Cain Velasquez to Rey Mysterio to even Ricochet, but he should succumb to Drew McIntyre. Lesnar works his WWE schedules in spurts and for him to put over the next generation in this manner would be the right thing to do, in my opinion.

Because if Drew McIntyre loses to Brock Lesnar, who could possibly defeat him, in that case, I ask? Strike while the iron is hot with a superstar who looks and works like Drew McIntyre.

#3 Have John Cena defeat the Fiend

Even though I wasn't necessarily opposed to the idea of The Fiend being squashed by Goldberg in Saudi Arabia, it was the manner that it happened that rubbed people the wrong way. The Fiend did not lose to The Jackhammer, but instead to a botched move that Goldberg, a part-timer who was rusty, had trouble delivering to his opponent.

For him to lose to yet another part-timer in John Cena would be really disappointing, in my opinion. As I've mentioned with Goldberg and Brock Lesnar before this, now is the time when they get the next generation of WWE superstars ready for the future of the company.

And so, yes, The Fiend should be the person to defeat John Cena, having him pass out in the middle of the ring to a Mandible Claw, establishing him as a top-tier star in the whole process, I think. John Cena's career is winding down and I don't think this loss will really affect him.

It may well be John Cena's very last match as well.

#2 Have anyone but Sasha or Bayley emerge as SmackDown Women's Champion

Yes, it may be a 6-woman match for the SmackDown Women's Championship on paper. Yes, realistically Lacey Evans, Naomi, Dana Brooke, and Tamina have a chance of winning the title. But under no circumstances should Vince McMahon have any of them pick up the victory because the two main stars in this match are Sasha Banks and Bayley.

It is all too possible that Vince McMahon will book a story where Sasha Banks and Bayley implode and while they're engaged in their own rivalry, one of the other women picks up a victory. It would be very odd indeed if Tamina or Dana Brooke become the SmackDown Women's Champions because they've not been built in this manner. And the same can also be said of Lacey Evans and Naomi, who're top-tier stars but haven't really had a compelling storyline or push in the recent past, according to me.

This is the Sasha and Bayley story and the winner should be one of these two women.

#1 Have Edge be defeated in his big comeback match

Edge's return will remain one of the best moments in the year 2020, and I would say that it ranks at the same level as the return of The Hardyz or even Goldberg to WWE. And while the match hasn't really been confirmed yet, even a casual fan can see that Edge and Randy Orton are on a collision course for WrestleMania.

To have Edge lose his big comeback match would just devalue him as a performer, much like what happened with Sting. For Edge to remain a star for a long and extended period of time, it is absolutely necessary that he picks up the win at WrestleMania 36.

The world needs a reason to smile right now and for Edge to win the match would give them one such reason. Moreover, there are a lot of dream rivalries awaiting Edge in the roster and it will give him a chance to move on to them.

Randy Orton will be just fine, irrespective of whether he wins or he loses.
