You can't always give the WWE Universe what they want, as there is a good reason why there are skilled professionals behind the product. However, with all the controversial decisions WWE has been making over the last few years, many wrestling fans feel that they could do a better job.

And for what it's worth, the fan input from the WWE Universe has made a strong case for the company to start listening to its audience once again. While many of the fan demands have worked out in both parties favour, some things went haywire.

Wrestling fans are a bunch of enthusiasts who want things the way they envision them, but sometimes their demands have left them reeling. Here are five fans demands that the fans asked for, but eventually hated.

#1 Goldberg's Return

Goldberg went from a conquering superhero to an outcast in a few months.

Goldberg returning to WWE felt like an impossible dream for many wrestling fans. However, sometimes, your dreams do come true, and all they need is a little kick start. The plan to get Goldberg back in the WWE began at Summerslam 2016, where twenty thousand fans chanted for Goldberg's return after Brock Lesnar beat Randy Orton in the main event of the night.

The WWE Universe might not have gotten Goldberg on that night, but WWE heard the masses loud and clear. Therefore, just a few months later, the WCW icon made his way back to WWE TV to challenge Lesnar to a match at Survivor Series.

This match saw Goldberg destroy Lesnar in less than two minutes, and this sent shockwaves throughout the industry. Fans knew Goldberg was not done with the company, as rumors at the time indicated that Goldberg signed a multiple match deal with WWE.

This saw Goldberg enter the Royal Rumble, defeat a fan favourite heel in Kevin Owens for the Universal Title and defend that championship at Wrestlemania. During this time, the WWE Universe grew weary of Goldberg, as his 'superman' booking became tiring for the fans.

Therefore, when Goldberg stepped out in front of the thousands at WrestleMania, he was booed out of the building. The fans wanted Goldberg, and when they got Goldberg, things suddenly went sour.

#2 Becky Two Belts

Lynch has not been able to recapture the magic that catapulted her to the main event scene
Lynch has not been able to recapture the magic that catapulted her to the main event scene

The rise of Becky Lynch to the top of the card was not something that many fans expected a few years ago. Lynch was a hard worker, who many thought would be stuck in the midcard forever. However, when Lynch's heel turn in the middle of 2018 shook up a stagnant women's division, fans made sure that they send Becky right into the main event scene.

Therefore, it was a real surprise when Becky finally conquered her enemies in the main event of Wrestlemania and won the Undisputed Women's World Title that the fans started to turn on the top name.

While one could say that WWE double-downed on Becky's infectious badass attitude since she won the titles at Wrestlemania, the WWE Universe can't deny that they were clamouring for Lynch to be the top star in the company when her push started.

#3 Monday Night Rollins

Could Rollins benefit from a heel turn?
Could Rollins benefit from a heel turn?

Seth Rollins might have taken Roman Reigns' place as the most hated babyface in WWE today. The Universal Champion has gone from a fan-favourite to an unpopular figure in less than a few months after his rise as the main superstar on Raw, and that felt unlikely when Rollins push started.

Just a year ago, we saw the WWE Universe plead with WWE to push Rollins into the main event scene. 'Monday Night Rollins' had become a phenomenon in the wrestling community, and many wished that Rollins could be the one to conquer Brock Lesnar for the World Title.

When Rollins beat Lensar for the title not just once but twice, it seemed as if the fans grew tired of Rollins' character, as many booed the man during his tenure as champion. Even though WWE is set on keeping Rollins as the top dog, fans are already waiting for a new Universal Champion.

#4 Dream Matches

Leave the past in the past.
Leave the past in the past.

Dream matches contain special moments that make wrestling entertaining. The thought of watching two veteran wrestlers square off is enough to make fans buy a ticket to the show or tune in to view the action unfold. Promoters know fans have a weak spot for certain superstars and the plan to have these dream matches on big pay-per-views is deliberate.

However, not every match that sounds good on paper is going to be good in the ring, and we recently saw a few of these matches unfold. From John Cena vs The Undertaker to The Undertaker vs Goldberg, we have seen many dream matches fall apart over the years. While it's not the fault of the fans that these matches don't live up to the hype, sometimes it's better to expect less.

#5 Dean Goes Bad

This could have been the biggest push of Dean Ambrose's career
This could have been the biggest push of Dean Ambrose's career

Dean Ambrose's heel turn was one of the greatest things to happen in the last ten years in WWE. Fans waited for many years to see Ambrose pushed to the point of no return, one that would see him venture down a familiar path.

However, when the character did happen, it felt anti-climatic. After beating Seth Rollins on the night when Roman Reigns announced his health issues, critics were convinced that Ambrose's newly fond aggression could benefit the WWE product in an excellent way.

However, the opposite occurred after WWE turned this promising heel run into more of a comedic act, as we saw Ambrose cosplay as Bane, revel in some generic heel behaviour and disappoint the WWE Universe in many big matches.

Ambrose's failed heel turn might go down as one of the biggest missed opportunities in WWE history, as who knows where it could have taken WWE and the man himself.
