WWE SummerSlam was one of the better WWE pay-per-views of the year. At the pay-per-view, a new RAW Women’s Champion was crowned. However, the WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, retained his title at the event, and he had a few words to say to his challenger during this week’s show.

The Street Profits were able to defeat Andrade and Angel Garza to retain their RAW Tag Team Championships, and Montez Ford was able to defeat Garza once again on this week’s show.

Bobby Lashley lost an arm-wrestling contest against Apollo Crews, but he will still get a shot at the United States Championship at WWE Payback.

During the show, Shayna Baszler found an unlikely tag team partner in Nia Jax, who will challenge The Golden Role Models for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Payback.

Keith Lee made his RAW debut, while Dominik Mysterio teamed up with his father Rey Mysterio, to take on Seth Rollins and Murphy in a tag team match.

In this article, we will look at five things WWE got right on this week’s RAW right after SummerSlam.

#5 Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax unite on WWE RAW

Bayley was set for a match against Shayna Baszler on this week’s WWE RAW and came out with Sasha Banks by her side. Before the two women could compete, Nia Jax appeared to make her presence felt once again after teasing a rivalry with Baszler.

The Queen of Spades seemed much more superior than The Role Model in the ring and kept taking her down with big strikes. Banks provided the distraction that helped the SmackDown Women’s Champion to gain control.

While the action was heating up, Jax decided to get involved and took out Baszler, drawing a disqualification. While The Irresistible Force targeted Baszler first, she quickly turned her attention to Bayley and Banks.

Baszler and Jax stood united, which forced The Golden Role Models to retreat.

This was an odd segment, but it could help the RAW roster. Baszler and Jax seem to have their eyes on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, which means Asuka doesn’t have to worry about The Golden Role Models for some time.

The team of Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott is still being built up, and they could get an opportunity for the title at a later date.

#4 Aleister Black turns heel on WWE RAW

Aleister Black made his return to WWE RAW on this week’s episode after enduring a few attacks from Seth Rollins and his men, and losing an eye in the process. Black was the special guest during the Kevin Owens Show, and fans were eager to hear what Black had to say about the Monday Night Messiah.

The Striking Man from Amsterdam ordered the footage of his attack to be played on the big screen, after which KO tried to explain to him that Rollins had a habit of playing mind games with his rivals.

Black then feigned a dizzy spell and then attacked Owens with a back elbow. He then proceeded to hit The Prizefighter with a Black Mass to end the segment, leaving the WWE Universe with several questions.

While Black’s motivation is unknown, one thing that’s for certain is that he has turned heel following his return. Black was a top star in WWE NXT, but he hasn’t been able to replicate the same on RAW.

While The Dutch Destroyer is a crowd-favorite and plays the role of an anti-hero well, it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table as a pure heel.

#3 Keith Lee debuts on WWE RAW

After losing his NXT Championship to Karrion Kross at NXT TakeOver XXX a few nights ago, Keith Lee made his debut on WWE RAW this week.

The former NXT and North American champion was given a big opportunity almost immediately, as he interrupted Randy Orton while The Viper was talking down WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.

Lee introduced himself and then challenged Orton to a match on RAW. After the break, the match between the two men was made official.

Later in the night, the two men competed against each other and Lee looked strong against the 13-time World Champion. While Orton had all the tricks in the book, Lee managed to get some of his offense in to show fans what he is capable of.

The match ended in a no-contest after McIntyre pulled Orton out of the ring and attacked him. While this isn’t how Lee’s first match should have ended, it’s better than him taking a clean defeat from Orton in his first match.

Lee has limitless potential, and WWE seem to be planning to give him a big push on RAW. He is already scheduled for his first singles PPV match at WWE Payback against The Viper.

#2 Asuka retains her RAW Women’s Championship

A rematch from WWE SummerSlam was scheduled for this week’s WWE RAW as Asuka defended her RAW Women’s Championship against the very woman she won it from, Sasha Banks.

However, this was a lumberjack match where several WWE Superstars surrounded the ring as the two went to war. Banks looked to be in better shape than Asuka and took advantage, after a cheap shot from Bayley on Asuka.

The two women went back and forth while the action spiled outside the ring and the lumberjacks were keen on getting involved in the match aswell.

After being sent into the steel steps, Asuka endured a frog splash from The Boss but then locked Banks in the Asuka Lock to make her tap out once again.

This was a decent match that allowed RAW to close the chapter between Banks and Asuka before SummerSlam. While it’s heartbreaking to see Banks have another short title reign, The Empress is the right woman to lead the RAW women’s locker room at this time.

#1 RETRIBUTION lay waste to The Mysterios on WWE RAW

Dominik Mysterio was booked to return to the WWE ring once again this week on RAW, just one night after making his debut at SummerSlam. Dominik teamed up with his father Rey Mysterio, to take on Seth Rollins and Murphy.

The Messiah and his Disciple took the fight to the two babyfaces before the bell and then tried to keep control following the bell. Dominik was on the attack early on, but the heels managed to slow him down.

The two teams kept trading shots until the Mysterios managed to hit a double 619. While they were in control, the lights flickered and RETRIBUTION appeared once again.

The heelish faction beat down the father-son duo while Rollins and Murphy watched from the top of the ramp. The finish suggests that the rivalry between The Mysterios and Rollins is far from over.

Surprisingly, no one from the RAW locker room came out to protect the two babyfaces once again while the entire SmackDown locker room was united against RETRIBUTION.
