5 ways WWE has brought a sense of normalcy to their shows

The ongoing pandemic has left professional sports at a virtual standstill over the last couple of months, but WWE doesn't seem to have the same problem. In fact, while most sports organizations are actively trying to figure out how to start or even end their season, WWE has been plowing along.

Not only has this allowed fans to escape from reality over the last couple of months, it has also given them a much-needed sense of normalcy as well. A sense of normalcy that has allowed them to enjoy the thing they love the most as they navigate this difficult time.

With that being said and WWE doing an amazing job of keeping their fan base entertained, here are five things the company has done to maintain a sense of normalcy. As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to tell us if WWE has done a great job of projecting normalcy.

#5 Maintaining a comedy element

It's no secret that there isn't a lot to laugh about right now and while that might be mostly true, WWE is trying their hardest to be the exception. Humor is subjective and not everything is going to be a hit with the audience, but WWE is continuing to try and make fans laugh during this difficult time period.

In fact, between the insanity of a Firefly Funhouse match, a game show type Money in the Bank ladder match and R-Truth's ongoing battle with Akira Tozawa for his 24/7 Title, the company has done their best to bring comedy to the fans. Whether it always connects or not doesn't matter. What does is that they are trying!

In the end, WWE is doing their best to bring smiles to fans faces and they are doing a great job of that.

#4 Keeping most of the main roster

Consistency is key when it comes to a great overall pro wrestling product and that is exactly what WWE has at the moment. A big part of the company's consistency has to do with the fact they have for the most part kept their top Superstars involved in their featured storylines.

Of course Roman Reigns, and a few others stand out as examples of Superstars that are unable to compete right now, but the vast majority of Superstars are still there. In fact, between Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, Asuka, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Lacey Evans, Randy Orton and Bobby Lashley, all being featured weekly on television, it almost feels like business as usual.

Now, that doesn't mean that fans don't yearn for the day that Roman Reigns lets out his signature roar and punches the entrance ramp again, but there are enough popular Superstars in featured storylines that make up for it. Maybe WWE can even utilize this strategy to create new Superstars, which would be helpful.

#3 Talking to the fans

The connection between fans and WWE Superstars is a very important one. They are the people we are supposed to connect with and feel a certain way about. It's a very unique relationship to have and it has unfortunately been strained due to the ongoing pandemic as fans have been unable to attend shows.

With that being said however, WWE Superstars have done a great job of continuing to acknowledge the audience at home and even offering messages of support during this tough time. It's almost like they feel the loss of not being there as much as fans do, and it is very touching to watch them do this for fans.

In the end, WWE never had to do this. They never even had to air live episodes for as long as they did, but did so to keep the fans entertained. Acknowledging the fans at home and the hardships they may be facing right now just shows how much WWE truly cares about their fan base.

#2 Live audience

One of the things that WWE was missing for months was a live audience and it really had an impact on what was happening inside the ring. Not only did every single match that took place lose a lot of its energy, it minimized everything the Superstars were trying to accomplish as well.

With that being said, WWE made the right decision to hold off on bringing in a live audience and really did their best in the meantime. In fact, between bringing on special guest commentators and doing more cinematic matches, the company really filled in the gap until a solution could be found.

In the end, WWE bringing in NXT trainees to sit in on shows is a breath of fresh air for fans. It finally gives them an idea of who they should be rooting for, gives an unparalleled sense of energy to every single match, and even gives Superstars a crowd to work off of as they tell their story.

#1 Holding pay-per-views

WWE hasn't missed a single pay-per-view since the ongoing pandemic began and while they still can't have actual fans in attendance, seeing the yearly schedule continue on is such a relief. Furthermore, in a world where nothing seems certain anymore and where things can change in an instant, WWE still holding pay-per-view is a good thing.

Again, there might not be any actual fans in attendance and they all are currently taking place at the same location, but WWE's refusal to stop is so comforting to watch. Fans all over the world are scared and uncertain about the future, which is why they do their best to bring fans a pay-per-view every month.

If nothing else, it's a message to fans from the company that we are all in this together and brighter days are ahead. In the meantime, however, WWE seems absolutely steadfast in their commitment to bring a sense of normalcy to fans and keep them engaged in what happens next with the product.
