The Undertaker is one of the greatest superstars to set foot inside the squared circle. A career stretching over thirty years, he has left an unrivaled legacy behind that will define WWE forever.

Vince McMahon's company has finally decided to induct The Deadman into the WWE Hall of Fame. He has some remarkable achievements which have propelled him into being a Hall of Famer.

Included in on his list of incredible achievements is his undefeated streak at WrestleMania. He managed to stand tall in 21 consecutive editions of The Showcase of Immortals, which is mind-boggling, to say the least.

However, his streak didn't last an eternity. The unexpected happened when Brock Lesnar pinned the soon-to-be Hall of Famer at WrestleMania XXX. However, a few superstars were extremely close to achieving the unthinkable before Lesnar finally did it.

On the list, we will discuss five WWE Superstars who almost broke The Undertaker's streak.

#5 in our list of WWE Superstars who almost broke The Undertaker' streak - Edge

The Undertaker challenged Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship in 2008 at WrestleMania. Every fan knew about the streak and what it meant in WWE and thus every Undertaker match was highly anticipated.

The match was intense and intriguing, with the result being in The Deadman's favor extending his record to 16-0. However, one thing to note here is that during the development of the match, Edge was proposed to break the streak.

However, The Rated-R Superstar thought the idea made no sense and rejected it. It was The Phenom's wife, Michelle McCool, who talked about it.

"Actually I remember a few years prior that WrestleMania (24) versus Edge they talked about Edge breaking the streak and it was Edge that was actually like, ‘That makes zero sense. I don’t want to do that. Why would I do that? The fans already love him. What’s it gonna do for Edge?’ - Michelle McCool via New York Post.

Edge is one of the best superstars in the business and his decision not to break the streak was welcomed by the fans.

#4. Randy Orton was very close to ending the streak

After parting ways with Evolution, Randy Orton set out on a journey of destroying legends, thus donning the moniker of “The Legend Killer”.

He crossed paths with The Undertaker during that time and the two superstars locked horns at WrestleMania 21. This was the first time someone challenged The Phenom for an express reason of destroying the streak.

The contest was pretty intense, especially considering the wide age gap between the two superstars. Orton did everything he could and at one point it seemed like The Streak was about to end, which of course didn't happen that day.

#3. The Demon Kane was a legit threat to his brother at WrestleMania XIV

Right after making his WWE debut, Kane targeted his "long-lost brother” The Undertaker. The masked demon was assisted by The Phenom's former manager Paul Bearer.

The two Goliaths crossed paths on many occasions, all of which led to a match at WrestleMania. Kane had an extremely dominating personality at the time, which made the majority of the fans believe that he could pull off a victory in the contest.

It was the first match since The Undertaker's debut where he had to work significantly to save his streak. Although Kane gave his brother a run for his money, he came up short.

The two superstars had a WrestleMania rematch at the 20th edition, which was also won by The Deadman.

#2. Shawn Michaels even put his career on the line to end the streak

Shawn Michaels embarked on a journey to end The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak. He put on a great challenge against The Deadman at WrestleMania XXVI to no gain.

Michaels then challenged the latter for a rematch the following year. The Phenom accepted the match with the stipulation that Michaels had to put his career on the line against Taker's streak, which HBK accepted.

This was probably the only time where the crowd was divided in an Undertaker WrestleMania match. Many wrestling and Michaels' fans wanted him to continue with his career but couldn't watch the Phenom lose either.

All this led to a fantastic match where the streak survived yet again but came incredibly close to ending.

#1. Triple H with Shawn Michaels as guest referee seemed like the duo made to end the streak

When Michaels failed to end Taker's streak, his best friend took upon the duty. Triple H squared off against The Last Outlaw at WrestleMania 27 in a no-holds-barred match. After he succeeded in performing a tombstone piledriver on Taker, many thought that was it.

However, The Undertaker somehow managed to win the match. The Cerebral Assassin challenged The Deadman at the next year's event. This time, Shawn Michaels took on the role of referee, stacking the odds against The Minister of Darkness.

The match featured the moment when the streak was closest to being over. Michaels gave a Sweet Chin Music to Taker, followed by a pedigree from Triple H. HBK, then started a fast pinfall. However, the Undertaker kicked out to everyone's surprise.

In the climax, Michaels finally did a fair count to award the victory to The Undertaker, marking the end of an era. It cannot be denied that defeat was moments away for The Phenom in this match.
