A few worthy opponents for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30

WWE Smackdown - Sydney

WrestleMania rings two names in my mind – Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. The former has retired and the latter is on the verge of retirement. But over the years at WrestleMania, The Undertaker has just kept coming back, extending his astonishing unbeaten run at the sporting spectacle. And once again, the buzz is that WM30 may be the legend’s last outing in a squared circle. But this is something we’ve heard for the last 3 years now, haven’t we? So, if this does turn out be the Deadman’s last outing at WWE‘s most important stage, here are a few worthy opponents, who could ensure a final encounter worthy enough for The Undertaker:

Stone Cold Steve Austin – The Rattle Snake is on a comeback trail and it would be no surprise if he squared off against The Undertaker at WM 30. In the recent past, Austin was tipped to face CM Punk at Wrestlemania; that would be an awesome match for sure, but a match against The Undertaker will be iconic. Here’s a little trivia that drives home the fact – in the 21 editions of WrestleMania The Undertaker has competed in, he has never faced the Rattle Snake, and so that increases the stakes even more. The two of the biggest superstars from the Attitude Era going at each other will surely be a worthy match at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’.

The Rock – Speculation is rife that The Brahma Bull may have wrestled his last match at WM29. But in the professional wrestling world you can never say never! Keeping that in mind, if the Rock does come back again to WWE, this match could very well be on the cards. Lets look at it this way: the people’s champ has done it all in the wrestling world. He has won all the titles, been in some of the most epic feuds, has had a successful Hollywood career, and even enjoyed a successful comeback to WWE. The only thing missing from the Great One’s resume is a win against the Undertaker at WM. The two have faced each other only thrice before at various PPVs, and the record stands 2-1 in favour of The Rock.

John Cena – Similar to Austin & The Rock, Cena has never faced the Undertaker at WM. Whether we like it or not, Cena is the No.1 superstar in the WWE today. Also, this will present an opportunity for WWE to turn Cena heel (well that’s never going to happen, but you never know) against The Undertaker. Pitting the past and the present of WWE together is a mouthwatering prospect for the WWE universe for sure.

Sting – Now this is a match that the WWE Universe would just love to see. Everybody wants to see this match and there is no better place for it to materialise than WM30. Both the superstars are now close to retirement and such a match deserves a Wrestlemania tag and would be a perfect setting for both these superstars to retire. Sting, over the years, has been on a one year contract with TNA. This provides an opening for WWE to try and book Sting starting with Royal Rumble. Royal Rumble is the start of the road to Wrestlemania, and having Sting return to WWE at this PPV would be huge. However, WWE’s multiple attempts in the past to lure him back have largely been exercises in futility.

Few other Superstars who could challenge the Deadman could be Ryback, The Shield and Sheamus! Let us know who you think would be a worthy opponent for The Undertaker at WrestleMania.
