Biggest winners and losers of last night's RAW (April 13)

It begins.
It begins.

The WrestleMania hangover now having officially passed (and what a weird hangover it was this year), the Red brand looked to its immediate future on last night's RAW, beginning the drive to Money in the Bank.

WWE continues to grit its teeth and get through the pandemic and it did an admirable enough job last night. Who got the most and least out of this edition of RAW? Let's find out.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

Unlike last week's unexpected involvement of The Big Show that I didn't know what to make of, this week, Drew McIntyre looked like a champion you'd want to get behind. Undoubtedly tapping into his real-life wild ride to get to this point, it was a relatable story.

WWE then brought Andrade out in a nice touch - to remind us all of the match they had at the first NXT TakeOver: WarGames, where the current United States Champion won the NXT title against the current WWE Champion.

McIntyre would win, of course, but he already has his near-term rivalry laid out - and it wasn't this match. His night wouldn't be over.

Winner: Asuka

After losing the Women's tag team titles at WrestleMania, Asuka quickly got back to winning ways. For the first time, she'll be in the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, which will be a lot of fun to see. What was curious here was that Kairi Sane wasn't with her - nor was Asuka with Kairi Sane in her own match later that night.

Could the Kabuki Warriors be a thing of the past?

With not much left to do or much focus on the women's tag team division, that might be a good thing for Asuka, even though she's unlikely to win the match she just qualified for. Still, it will be more interesting for her.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

After losing her match at WrestleMania, Shayna Baszler looked to regain some momentum and she did so, by beating Sarah Logan and qualifying for the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. One would think she'd be an early favorite and cashing in on a wounded Becky Lynch would be in her character.

It looks like her feud with Becky Lynch isn't over, even though the match at WrestleMania was, predictably, nothing to write home about.

We'll see what happens.

Winner: Austin Theory

It looks like Austin Theory is done with NXT. He looks like he's on RAW full-time now and began solidifying his status with a victory over Akira Tozawa.

Austin Theory will be one to watch over the next year. Given his youth and look, he might even be the man Vince turns to to lead his company in a few years.

Being alongside Zelina Vega, Andrade, and Angel Garza makes Theory a part of a potentially interesting faction, though more work is needed to be done to make it something really worth talking about.

But if WWE were a stock market, I'd be buying Austin Theory stock right now.

Loser: Kairi Sane

If Asuka comes out of the Kabuki Warriors with some fresh wind in her sails, the opposite appears to be true for Kairi Sane. It shouldn't be surprising that Nia Jax won this match after her return, no matter how much better a wrestler Kairi Sane is than her. But the manner in which Nia won suggests that the brass doesn't have big plans in mind for the now-former Women's Tag Team Champion.

For the moment, Kairi Sane's prospects on the main roster look grim. She needs the Kabuki Warriors a lot more than Asuka does, it would seem.

Loser: Ricochet

Pairing Ricochet with Cedric Alexander seems to be yet another sign that he isn't going to get a push anytime soon. Alexander was written off months ago. Now, as if the loss against Brock Lesnar wasn't enough, Ricochet being paired with him seems to signal the end of his prospects of success on the main roster for the time being.

If Vince McMahon has that little plans for him, perhaps a return to NXT would be wise. I'm sure he could be better utilized there.

Winner: Seth Rollins

And just like that, Seth Rollins has a title feud.

At this time last year, Seth Rollins had defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania for the Universal Championship (albeit not in nearly as dominant fashion as Drew McIntyre did) and was riding high. Then he fell from the fans' graces, lost the Universal title, and fully embraced his own madness as a way of coping with it.

An angle of jealousy would be good here, though that remains to be seen. It would tie in well with his delusions about being the "Monday Night Messiah". It's the kind of personality that the hard-working, "chosen by destiny", Drew McIntyre would work well going against.

Either way, this should be a good title match for Money in the Bank, one that helps to fight the infamous "post-WrestleMania slump" in WWE, one which looks like it will be especially acute this year given the ongoing pandemic.

How Seth Rollins involves his faction in this will be the next step to explore. McIntyre vs. Murphy would be a good match, along with him against the Authors of Pain.
