From The Rumour Mill: Recent steroid accusations aren't set to change plans for Roman Reigns

Roman's push wont be affected by the recent allegations
Roman's push won't be affected by the recent allegations

What's the story?

Roman Reigns was named as an alleged client of jailed steroid distributor Richard Rodriguez earlier this month, the former World Champion was then forced to publically deny these claims and it seems that WWE is happy with that since recent rumours suggest that Roman is still set to become Champion at WrestleMania.

In case you didn't know..

Roman was named along with the likes of Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel as part of a $10 million steroid ring. Richard Rodriguez, who is the one accusing Reigns of being a client is currently behind bars after his Miami-based Wellness Fitness Nutrition company was raided by the Drug Enforcement Agency last February.

Reigns has denied any involvement in this and many fans believed that WWE forcing him to drop the Intercontinental Championship to The Miz last week on Raw was part of his punishment for being implicated in this crime. It seems that this isn't the case. Reigns was always supposed to drop the title back to The Miz because the company has much bigger plans for him.

The heart of the matter

Reigns recently put out a statement where he denied any contact with Rodriguez and it seems that the plan for the former World Champion moving forward is still for him to win the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania in a few months time, according to cagesideseats rumour round up this morning.

Reigns denied the allegation stating:

"I have never heard of Richard Rodriguez or Wellness Fitness Nutrition, "I learned from the mistake I made nearly two years ago and paid the penalty for it. Since then, I've passed 11 tests as part of WWE's independent drug testing program."

Roman is expected to be part of The Royal Rumble match this weekend, which should hopefully hint at a storyline between Roman and Brock heading into WrestleMania.

What's next?

Rodriguez recently claimed that despite Reigns' denial, he can prove that he was one of his clients, which means that this story is far from over.

Author's take

If Reigns is innocent then he doesn't deserve to have his intended title push taken away from him. But if there is evidence that proves that he was part of this scandal, then WWE won't want the bad press surrounding their Universal Champion in the coming weeks, which means the company may decide to change their WrestleMania plans after all.
