On 15th April 2020, WWE released several wrestlers, producers, and other corporate employees as a budget-cut measure owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush was one of those released talents and soon after the announcement, the Man of the Hour would make a tweet about retiring from pro-wrestling for good.
