WWE Superstar Dominik Mysterio betrayed his father, Rey Mysterio, to become one of the most hated heel characters in professional wrestling. The veteran performer recently shared his honest opinion on Ex-Con Dom turning on him.

Dominik won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship alongside Rey Mysterio in 2021. The 27-year-old, however, shocked everyone when he attacked Edge and his father at Clash of the Castle 2022 following the WWE Hall of Famers' match against The Judgment Day. He proceeded to join the faction after the premium live event, commencing a highly successful run that saw him go up against several top superstars and even win the NXT North American Championship.

During his recent interview on the Jaxxon Podcast, Rey Mysterio reflected on his son's journey in the Stamford-based company. He pointed out how difficult it was for Dominik Mysterio to find his feet amid constant comparisons with the WWE Hall of Famer. The Master of the 619 further claimed that parting ways with the veteran was the best thing that could have ever happened to him:

“The career that I’ve had, the longevity—starting at the age of 14, and now being 49. I’ve been grinding in this business for the past 35 years. For my son to come in out of nowhere and not have my style, with a different build—he’s 6’1″ and about 190 pounds—it was very hard for him at the beginning to try to adapt and find his role as a wrestler. Comparisons were made, and of course, he couldn’t live up to them. Not until we separated, and he continued on his own path without having his dad by his side. That was the best thing that could have ever happened to him,” said Rey Mysterio. [H/T: Ringside News]

Dominik Mysterio forced out of action following an injury

Dominik Mysterio joined the list of stars who have been forced out of action after sustaining injuries following his match against Andrade on the April 15 edition of Monday Night RAW.

The Judgment Day member is reportedly set to go through physical therapy to recover from the injury instead of going under the needle. Although the recovery period is still not known, it would have been comparatively longer had he undergone surgery.

The Judgment Day has been marred with injuries as Rhea Ripley also sustained a shoulder injury following WrestleMania XL. The Eradicator was subsequently forced to relinquish the Women's World Championship.
