It's time for another edition of the WWE News Roundup. This week, we start off big, with a recent sighting of 'The Beast Incarnate' Brock Lesnar. A former WWE star recently revealed how John Cena's advice may have saved him from being fired.

Along with a host of other stories, we finish off this week with WWE management reportedly not being happy with a particular WWE SmackDown Superstar.

It came as a pretty big surprise to pretty much everyone when WWE let Brock Lesnar’s contract expire last year. He is expected to return at some point but has been pretty much under the radar in recent months. The Beast Incarnate’s last match in the company came at WrestleMania 36 where he faced Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship.

Brock Lesnar was recently spotted with the Bearded Butchers, where he demonstrated some of his techniques. In the photos, Lesnar was spotted sporting an interesting look with a goatee. The full video will go up on the Bearded Butchers YouTube channel soon.

#5 John Cena’s advice stopped former WWE Superstar from being fired

Heath Slater recently sat down for an interview with the Such Good Shoot podcast. During the interview, the former WWE Superstar opened up about The Nexus’ debut in 2010.

The faction, which consisted of eight NXT stars led by Wade Barrett, laid waste to the arena and in the aftermath, Daniel Bryan was fired for choking Justin Roberts with his tie. He was later hired back by WWE and the rest is history.

As far as Slater’s role, he revealed that he was about to choke John Cena when The Face That Runs The Place advised him to stop with the choking and that advice may have saved him from being fired too. Here’s what Slater had to say:

"You can even see in that one part with the ropes down. I grabbed the rope and I go to choke Cena with it. And he literally takes it off. He's like, ‘No, no, no, no choke.’ You know that type deal. ‘Alright,’ and you see me just drop it off."

Heath Slater is currently signed with IMPACT Wrestling.

#4 Zach Gowen recently commented on what it would take for him to return to WWE

Former WWE Superstar Zach Gowen was recently interviewed by Sid Pullar III of Sportskeeda Wrestling.

Gowen, who had a short but memorable run in WWE in 2003-04, was asked whether he would be open to potentially returning to the promotion. He joked that he would be ready to return if he got the exact contract Brock Lesnar had.

Gowen did add that while he was not looking to return to the road full time at his age, his phone was on and he would listen if someone had an interesting offer:

"Yes, if only WWE would offer me the exact same contract Brock Lesnar has. I want his money and the exact same number of dates (laughs). I have zero interest, I'll tell you truthfully, I have exactly zero interest of being on the road full time at 38 years old, hopping on one leg for the past 30 years, father of three, as well as my other businesses I'm involved in as well that I find an amazing amount of fulfilment and opportunity. However, hey listen, my phone's on. It's just that simple," said Zach Gowen.

Gowen added that if a potential offer worked for him and his family, it would be something he would definitely consider.

#3 Why Nikki Cross didn’t come up to the WWE main roster along with SAnitY

Nikki Cross is currently portraying the Nikki A.S.H. character on WWE RAW, however, it could have all be very different if she had come up to the main roster as part of SAnitY. Cross stayed back on NXT when the faction came up to the main roster, only coming up to the main roster later.

Big Damo, fka Killian Dain, was recently interviewed by Sportskeeda Wrestling. During the interview, he revealed why his real-life wife Nikki Cross didn’t come up to the main roster along with SAnitY. Damo explained:

"I think the most important part is, as we were going up to the main roster, you're starting from scratch almost. And generally, villains would go up, and they would get their ass beat by the babyfaces. The problem is, what does Nikki do when that happens because you can't have man-on-women violence. That, for me, is completely understandable."
"I think that was one of the takeaways she had herself, like on NXT, yes, you know she could attack Adam Cole and kind of disappear off-screen because we can make that work, but it's very difficult to make that happen on a live television show, especially in those big arenas that we were doing for SmackDown and stuff like that," said Big Damo.

The Nikki A.S.H. character is a promising new start for Cross on the WWE main roster. It will be interesting to see what the company has planned for her heading into SummerSlam next month.

#2 WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wanted two released superstars in Bray Wyatt’s faction

Former WWE Superstar Mike Bennett (fka Mike Kanellis) was recently interviewed by the Metro. He revealed some interesting information during the interview. Bennett said that at one point, there were plans for him to be a part of a faction led by 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt.

According to Bennett, Vince McMahon wanted to see The Fiend lead a group and he was supposed to be one of its members along with Eric Young, another former WWE star. Here’s what Bennett said:

"Early on when Bray Wyatt turned into The Fiend, Vince was always high on having Bray lead a group for some reason – he always wanted him to lead a group. We were about a week away from making it happen where me and Eric Young were gonna be part of Bray Wyatt’s group. We were gonna actually be – they were gonna bring to life the puppets. Each puppet was gonna represent an actual person. I don’t remember, there were talks that I was gonna be Sister Abigail and Eric Young was gonna be a buzzard."

Mike Bennett was released by WWE last year due to the COVID-19 budget cuts.

#1 WWE higher-ups not happy with Jimmy Uso?

Jimmy Uso
Jimmy Uso

WWE SmackDown Superstar Jimmy Uso was recently arrested for DUI in Pensacola, Florida. He is currently involved in the top storyline on the Blue brand along with his brother Jey Uso and Universal Champion Roman Reigns. This is also not the first time Jimmy has been arrested for a DUI.

Both Fightful Select and WrestleVotes have reported that WWE higher-ups are not happy with him. Here's what Fightful Select reported:

"To follow up on WrestleVotes' report that Jimmy Uso has 'high level people in power' extremely disappointed & legitimately pissed off over his DUI arrest, we can expand on that, and confirm it," wrote Ross Sapp. "Fightful has spoken to numerous talent, staff, and high level WWE names this week about their feelings on Uso, and there's unanimous concern across the board for him personally."

It will be interesting to see if WWE takes any action or if the storyline is adjusted.

Give us your thoughts on the situation with Jimmy Uso in the comments section below. What action, if any, should the company take?
