"They won't buy it" - 62-year-old veteran says Randy Orton must never lose to top WWE Superstar (Exclusive)

Randy Orton is gearing up to return soon.

Vince Russo recently spoke about how fans would not consider Cody Rhodes on the same level as Randy Orton and would never buy into the former defeating him.

The Viper and The American Nightmare go a long way back as they were once a part of the same stable, Legacy, in the global wrestling juggernaut. The duo even had a reunion last year on RAW when they joined forces for a multi-man match.

Though Randy Orton is currently away due to a back injury since May last year, fans haven't stopped dreaming of a dream clash between him and Cody. On the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo first spoke about Cody Rhodes' feud with Brock Lesnar, saying though the former might have won the rivalry, the casual fans never saw him on Lesnar's level.

Russo says the same could happen during a feud pitting The American Nightmare and The Legend Killer, saying even if Cody were to win, fans would never buy it.

"There is no casual fan who believed Cody Rhodes could beat Brock Lesnar. So it didn't do anything for him because nobody believed it. Bro, the same thing with Randy Orton. I would not believe, for a second, you know why? I'll tell you why. It's 'What do you guys wanna talk about.' It's the suits. It's the stopwatch. It's all the BS. And what is Randy Orton? Randy Orton is 100% business. 'I'm gonna kill you; I'm gonna destroy you.' So when a casual watches that match, you could put Cody over Randy all day long, they won't buy it," said Russo. Cody Rhodes on conversation with Randy Orton before WrestleMania 38 return

In an interview earlier this year, Cody Rhodes spilled the beans on his conversation with his former Legacy stablemate before he returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38. The American Nightmare revealed that he didn't hesitate before telling Orton that he feared the fans in Dallas, Texas, might shower him with boos.

"I told Randy [Orton] before I went out in Dallas [WrestleMania 38] that I thought they were gonna boo. I did. I thought they were gonna boo. Seth had carried the whole story to mania and I was the other guy and they didn't. I just told your partner this, but they got it." said Rhodes

It now remains to be seen when The Viper's WWE return materializes and if a dream match with Cody Rhodes becomes a reality down the line.
