WWE News: WWE announces new partnership with SEGA

WWE in collaboration with SEGA will be launching WWE Tap Mania later this year

What’s the story?

The WWE have recently announced a new partnership with Japanese gaming company SEGA to promote the launch of ‘WWE Tap Mania’ - a mobile gaming app that will allow fans to pit their favourite past and present WWE Superstars against players in a battle for dominance over the WWE Universe.

In case you didn’t know...

SEGA is a Japanese video game developing and publishing company best known for producing the iconic Sonic Hedgehog video game series.

The heart of the matter:

As per an official press release from both WWE and SEGA, the WWE Tap Mania mobile app will be released on Google Play for Android and App Store for iOS. Here’s what the COO of SEGA’s Western mobile division Naoki Kameda had to say in the press release:

“At SEGA, we like to find new ways to bring brands and experiences to a wide mobile gaming audience.”

“This partnership with WWE presents a fresh opportunity for collaboration. Working with WWE, a monumental leader in global entertainment, along with The Tap Lab, a studio known for crafting action-packed games that are fun at their core, we’re confident that WWE Tap Mania will delight WWE fans worldwide.”

More details are yet to be revealed.

What’s next?

SEGA will reveal more details about the app in the months to come via its official Twitter and Facebook accounts. WWE Tap Mania is expected to be launched later this year.

Unless you’ve never had anything to do with video games in your life, you’ve probably heard of SEGA. If not, then be rest assured that the company is one of the most legendary game developers and distributors of all time.

Now mind you, WWE are no strangers to partnering up with the world’s top gaming enterprises, having previously collaborated with THQ, 2K Games, Ocean Software, Yuke’s and Visual Concepts, to name a few of its gaming platform developers and distributors.

Apart from your run-of-the-mill annual WWE 2K video games available on Xbox, PlayStation and other platforms, the WWE are looking to further expand their gaming business by partnering up with SEGA.
