OFFICIAL: Roman Reigns retires The Undertaker at WWE WrestleMania 33, Deadman breaks character #ThankYouTaker

The Undertaker
Adios Undertaker! Rest In Peace!

The Undertaker has officially retired from the WWE after suffering defeat against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33. The defeat further dented his almost impeccable WrestleMania streak, with the Deadman ending his WWE career with a record that now reads 23-2.

The Undertaker brought down curtains on a legendary career that spanned over 27 years and saw him conquer the WWE Universe. The only previous loss suffered by the Deadman at the grandest stage of them all was against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30, which brought an end to his legendary streak of 21-0 at WrestleManias.

Undertaker specially called former commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross to commentate his last ever WWE match. There was an air of inevitability at Camping Bowl Stadium. The Undertaker endured countless Spears and Superman Punches from Roman Reigns before finally getting pinned.

The Undertaker left his gloves, hat and robe in the ring before making his way out of the Arena – not by walking out but by descending into nothingness. The Phenom even broke character before making his last ever exit from WWE as he acknowledged his wife – Michelle McCool – who was present in the audience, and the Deadman kissed her on his way back.

However, the abrupt ending to the legendary career of the Phenom didn’t go down well with hardcore and lifelong fans of WWE. The ending to such a remarkable career needed to be special bit instead it was abrupt and without the hype that it deserved.

The Undertaker has been one of the greatest wrestlers to ever grace the hallowed turf of WrestleMania and given his charismatic career deserved a sending off worthy of his legendary streak.

There was no build up to the match between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns, there was no concrete storyline and most of all there was no hype by the WWE indicating that this might be the last ever match of the Phenom.

It all started with the Big Dog eliminating the Undertaker at Royal Rumble and insisting that it was his yard now. The WWE hierarchy could have booked the Phenom's grand farewell so much better, like they have done previously with Shawn Michaels and before that Ric Flair - all once in a generation superstars.

WWE's obsession with Reigns might have led to the booking of this match but there are better, more accomplished and more deserving wrestlers in the roster who deserved to bring down curtains on the career of Undertaker.

But when all is said and done, never again will there be another long walk by Deadman down the ramp at WrestleMania, or the Phenom ending the match with a Tombstone Piledriver and that is just plain painful for us fans.

Thank You Undertaker for the legendary career but for now, Rest In Peace Deadman! #ThankYouTaker
