Families are a huge part of a person's life. Feuds can arise in wrestling, as professional wrestlers are usually on the road, which does not leave much time for their families. In some cases though, their families are also in the wrestling business, and it can make for some compelling stories.

Let’s face it; everyone has family drama, but not everyone wants it out in the open. In the wrestling world, if your family is involved, sometimes that plays into a wrestler's on-screen character.

Fans want to be able to relate to a star and people can always relate to family drama. There have been many stories in professional wrestling that revolve around “family feuds”.

Most of those storylines only involve on-screen family members, not neccessarily the star's biological family. For example, Kane and The Undertaker are not biological brothers, but they are so in the WWE Universe.

There are many famous wrestling families in the business. Some of these families have been in it for years. For example, The Rock comes from the Anona’i family. Current WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is also part of that family.

The Usos, Nia Jax, Tamina; all current members of the WWE roster that fall into this bloodline.

Roman Reigns and The Usos are currently in a storyline with The Mysterios. This is a perfect example of two different wrestling families facing off in the ring.

Here is a list of some notable “family feuds” that have happened throughout wrestling history. This list is compiled not only of families vs other families but also feuds within the same families.

#8. The Steiners Brothers Feud

Rick and Scott Steiner
Rick and Scott Steiner

Rick and Scott Steiner are two of the most well-known and largest real-life brothers in professional wrestling. They started wrestling together in the late 1980s and have since won multiple championships.

They dominated tag team divisions throughout the early to mid-90s, but things quickly changed for them in the late 90s during their time in WCW.

The Steiner brothers had a pretty notable feud with Stevie Ray and Booker T of Harlem Heat (who would be considered honorable mentions on this list because they had a short “family feud”)

Post this feud, Scott Steiner would get hurt and be out for quite a bit of time. When he returned he had a much different look. He cut his hair, had a goatee, and was even larger than he was before.

As the two brothers were feuding with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall of the NWO, things really started to change.

Scott was getting sick of his brother and would refuse to tag Rick in, often working full matches by himself. Rick would then be frustrated that Scott would not let him help in the match.

During their match with Nash and Hall at SuperBrawl VIII, Scott Steiner would turn on his brother and join the New World Order. Scott attacked Rick, ending their team altogether.

The next night he changed his look and became “Big Pappa Pump”, sporting his bleach blonde hair and goatee. He would align himself with NWO member Buff Bagwell, with whom he also had a notable feud.

This would upset Rick Steiner even more and the two would battle it out multiple times in singles and tag team competition. Rick never seemed to recover from the breakup.

Scott would go on to have very successful singles runs in multiple different promotions after the fall of WCW. Meanwhile, Rick would wrestle in various promotions but would fade off into the distance, only making one-off appearances.

The Steiner Brothers split was shocking in its time, but now, it has gone down in history as a great “family feud” in wrestling. The two teamed together in a few promotions when Scott needed a tag team partner but their feud seemed to be the end of their historic tag team run.

#7. The Feud of House Hardy

The Hardys
The Hardys

The Hardy Boyz; Matt and Jeff Hardy have career-defining feuds as a tag team, and both of these brothers also have very impressive singles careers. Matt and Jeff’s singles careers have led them into some serious rivalries with one another in the past.

Matt attacked Jeff, beginning their story against one another, before they were separated during the brand split.

The brothers Hardy were able to maintain successful singles careers as well as competing as a tag team until Matt once again got upset with Jeff. This led to a series of entertaining matches, one of which took place at WrestleMania 25.

Matt and Jeff eventually worked together at Impact Wrestling, where both men really evolved their characters.

They battled in a cinematic Final Deletion match before bonding back together once again.

They also have a historic feud with another set of brothers, The Young Bucks.

At the time, the Young Bucks were the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions. Matt and Jeff Hardy appeared and challenged the Bucks for their championships, and won the gold.

The Hardy’s title reign did not last long though, as the Young Bucks would attack them at a future event and request a rematch.

Matt and Jeff would accept their challenge, only to be defeated.

The next night, Hardy Boyz made their way back to WWE as surprise entrants in a Tag Team Ladder match at WrestleMania.

Matt and Jeff are currently split up. If Jeff Hardy were to join Matt, Nick, and, his brother Matt in AEW, who is to say that we won’t see another Hardy vs Bucks feud down the line?

#6.The Rhodes Brother's Feud

Cody and Dustin Rhodes
Cody and Dustin Rhodes

Cody and Dustin Rhodes are the sons of the legendary Dusty Rhodes, and they are no strangers to some great feuds.

With that being said, both Cody and Dustin have incredible careers. They have been involved in some notable stories with each other over the last decade.

Dusty Rhodes and Vince McMahon had a strong dislike for one another for years.

After the feud was mended in real life, the feud seemed to take over an on-screen persona and the Rhodes family feuded with the McMahons.

youtube-cover

In a bloody battle with the McMahon family, it made for the only time that Cody, Dustin, and Dusty teamed together in WWE.

Goldust (Dustin) was then teaming with Cody for a while and they were even tag team champions. This led to Cody turning into Stardust, which would eventually see him leave WWE altogether.

Goldust and Stardust did have a short feud in WWE during that storyline but the brothers would have an intense feud once AEW started.

Cody vs Dustin was a marquee match-up at the first ever Double or Nothing event in 2019.

youtube-cover

Post-match, Cody would give a very emotional speech about how much his brother means to him. He would then go on to ask him to team up with him one more time in a feud against The Young Bucks.

Cody and Dustin took on The Young Bucks at AEW’s next event. In what was an exciting match-up, both sets of brothers were ready to move on to different feuds.

Cody and Dustin do still team together from time to time in AEW but it appears their time as a full time tag team is over for now.

#5. The Bellas Twins "Feud Magic"

The Bellas
The Bellas

Nikki and Brie Bella were not feuding when WWE signed them to a developmental contract back in 2007. They then appeared together on TV in 2008 after using their “Twin Magic” routine.

The sisters competed together, they starred in television together, they had their babies around the same time, and most recently, they were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame together.

The two only feuded against each other once for an on-screen storyline.

Brie Bella was in a storyline that defended her real-life husband, Daniel Bryan against the McMahon family. As part of their vendetta against Daniel Bryan and Brie, Stephanie McMahon recruited Nikki Bella.

Brie was forced to quit unless Daniel Bryan would have to relinquish the championship. Nikki was then punished for weeks just for being Brie’s sister.

youtube-cover

When Brie had her chance to get her hands on Stephanie McMahon at Summerslam, Nikki came down to the ring and attacked Brie.

McMahon promised Nikki a championship match if she agreed to turn on her sister. Fed up with having to face punishment for her sister’s previous decision, Nikki was happy to turn.

Nikki fought in the championship match but lost it. This only fueled the feud between the two sisters.

The Bellas competed against one another at Hell in a Cell in a loser becomes the other’s assistant match that Nikki won. After a little while, Brie helped Nikki win the Diva’s Championship and all was then well with the two.

Nikki and Brie would then team together on and off for the next few years until Brie eventually retired.

Nikki would compete for a while longer, having a few more notable feuds. One of which was teaming up with her then-boyfriend John Cena to take on the husband and wife duo of The Miz and Maryse.

Now it appears both Bellas are done with their feud for now. They are retired and raising their children, but who is to say we won’t see a bit of twin magic again in the future?

#4. Angle/Jarrett Maritial Feud

Jeff and Karen Jarrett with Kurt Angle
Jeff and Karen Jarrett with Kurt Angle

The feud brought real-life controversy into the ring, as Kurt Angle’s ex-wife started seeing Jeff Jarrett behind the scenes.

At the time, Karen Angle was brought into TNA for a storyline involving Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. Eventually, the storyline lead to the marriage ending on screen and in real life.

Once they officially divorced in 2008, that's when Karen Angle was reportedly dating TNA head Jeff Jarrett. Causing a real-life controversy between the two, with Kurt Angle being one of TNA’s top stars, it also put the company in danger.

Angle would then refuse to work in any situation that Jarrett had a part in. With him being the head of the company, they needed to figure out a solution. Once all was well, they quickly turned this real-life drama into an on-screen storyline.

youtube-cover

Jarrett and Angle competed in multiple different matches against one another throughout the feud. One of these matches was an MMA match and another match was a steel cage match. Ultimately, Angle came out on top.

Chyna was brought in to help out Kurt Angle, and it was one of her last appearances in the wrestling business.

Overall, the feud has since ended. Now all is well with the Angle/Jarrett family and they seem to have a great relationship with their kids.

#3. A Family Feud with a Flair

Flair Family
Flair Family

Ric Flair has some of the most notable feuds as he is by far one of the greatest stars to ever step foot in the Squared Circle. His daughter Charlotte Flair is also quickly obtaining that level of greatness.

Ric and Charlotte have had a few of their feuds with one another. In recent history, Charlotte had been feuding with Lacey Evans. To take a shot at Flair, Evans brought in her father Ric.

What they weren’t expecting was Evans would get pregnant and ending the feud before it was able to reach its full potential.

Charlotte and Ric have had a few other on-screen disagreements, but Ric has primarily been on his daughter’s side for most of her career.

The real Flair “Family Feud” goes back to Ric’s time in WCW and it featured his eldest son David Flair.

As Ric was feuding with the NWO, David turned on him and caused him to lose the World Heavyweight Championship to Hulk Hogan.

The feud eventually got their whole family involved, and Ric’s youngest son Reid even competed at just 10 years old.

youtube-cover

David would then team up with his father for a little while before turning on him once again. Ric and David would battle it out in a bloody match at the Great American Bash. After his loss, David would challenge his father once more the next night.

David would end up winning, which would require Ric to “retire” and have his head shaved.

This would be a feud to go back and watch. It is also interesting to see a young Charlotte Flair given her current status.

#2. The Hart of the Feud

Hart Family
Hart Family

When talking about wrestling family feuds, the Hart family has wrestling pumping throughout their veins. The Harts are one of the most famous families in the history of professional wrestling. Being one of the largest families in wrestling, they have had their fair share of “family feuds”.

With the legendary Stu Hart as the patriarch of the family, the Hart family includes many stars like Bret Hart, Owen Hart, The British Bull Dog, and Natalya just to name a few.

They have feuded with each other on many different occasions. The Hart Foundation and The British Bulldogs had a feud that made for some excellent tag team matches.

youtube-cover

With multiple heel turns, we saw matches between the different family members take place quite a few times. Bret Hart had a notable feud with Davy Boy Smith but the feud he had with his brother Owen Hart goes down in history as one of the best matches in wrestling.

youtube-cover

As a family, they had each other’s backs, they took on families like The Rougeaus Brothers, The Nasty Boys, and members of the Anona’i Family.

Bret Hart famously defeated Yokozuna who is a member of the Anona’i family. They competed against one another for the championship at WrestleMania 9.

Bret Hart also had a real-life rivalry with the McMahon Family that ended at WrestleMania 26.

youtube-cover

The family still plays a part in the wrestling business, as family members including Natayla and Davy Boy Smith Jr. still compete regularly.

Natayla has had notable feuds with The Bellas, The Flairs, and The Anona’i family. She is currently the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Tamina Snuka of the Anona’i family.

Even though the Harts have faced a mixture of tragedy and success, they go down in history as one of wrestling's greatest families.

#1. The McMahon Family Feuds

McMahon Family
McMahon Family

You cannot have a list of wrestling families without including the most important feuding family in wrestling, The McMahons.

Vince, Shane, Linda, Stephanie, and Triple H have been at the forefront of the wrestling business for years.

The McMahons as a whole have been seen as authority figures since the 90s and it's relatable to want to stick it to the authority. Therefore, it has made for some great storylines.

The McMahons in the ring.

They have also had many feuds against one another. Triple H and Stephanie’s engagement was part of a feud that affected the McMahon family on and off-screen.

Triple H would then go on to feud with his own wife multiple times during the McMahon-Helmsley era of WWE.

D-Generation X led by Triple H also made life a living hell for the McMahons on many different occasions.

Vince and Shane would compete against each other in multiple matches. Vince would also appoint other stars to take his son out when they had disagreements. For example, a few years back Vince had Shane fight The Undertaker at WrestleMania in a Hell in a Cell match.

youtube-cover

Shane and Stephanie would have brother and sister rivalries pretty much every single time they were shown together on screen.

In the most recent brand split, Shane was in charge of SmackDown while Stephanie was in charge of Raw. The story had the two of them competing against one another for who could have the better show.

Linda McMahon used to get involved in these stories before her political career. At one point every single member of the McMahon family was feuding with one another, making for an incredible fatal four-way match.

Mick Foley would back Linda, Triple H would back his wife Stephanie, The Big Show would aid Shane, and finally, The Rock would compete for Vince.

youtube-cover

One thing is for sure, as long as the McMahon family is involved in the wrestling business, they will undoubtedly be feuding with one another at some point and they most certainly will be in some “family feuds” with other wrestling families.
