Denver, Colorado

When you think wrestling towns you think New York, Chicago, Miami or Los Angles and some would even add Toronto Canada to that list. You rarely think, Denver Colorado a place that holds a rich wrestling history. Most would be surprised to find out that the very first UFC PPV took place at McNichols Arena in the heart of Downtown Denver or that multiple wrestling PPV's have taken place in Colorado. With The KliqPodcast hailing from The Mile High City, naturally, here are the top 3 moments in wrestling from Denver Colorado.

#3: WWE Vengeance 2003 (Mr. McMahon vs. Zach Gowen)

E
WWE Vengeance 2003

There are a handful of moments that WWE fans would like to lock away in a vault never to see the light of day, and then there are those moments no matter the circumstance, can't help but to watch. The jacked up freak McMahon imposed his will on the one-legged wonder Gowen most of the bout but Gowen impressed with moonsaults and kick(s).

The most notable kick of the night courtesy of Gowen in the face of McMahon opening him up from ear to ear. Overall the match was well received considering the circumstances and Gowen received a standing ovation from the Denver crowd. One of those matches that can only happen once.

#2: WCW Spring Stampede 1998

WCW Spring Stampede 1998

This card was ridiculously stacked! Goldberg versus Saturn, No Time Limit Booker T versus Chris Benoit for WCW Television Title, Ravens Rules match Raven versus DDP for the United States Title and the No Disqualification match between then World Champion Sting and the late Macho Man Randy Savage.

KliqPod personally attended this event at the Denver Coliseum which can only seat about 10,000 people maximum. Really the two bouts that stand out on this card was Goldberg's undefeated streak against Saturn, 73-0 it was touted. This was the middle of the streak, at its hottest point. Naturally, the match wasn't long but watching a white-hot Goldberg dismantle Raven's Flock one by one was a sight to behold.

Raven versus Diamond Dallas Page was the highlight of the night. WCW mixed in Raven's depravity with DDP's ability to entertain and call a match. It was a winning recipe backed by two popular wrestlers who stole the show.

It was a different time in wrestling, one where you can throw your drink from the rafters, bean a wrestler and they encouraged that much heat from the fans. It was engaging and a lot of fun.

#1: Goldberg's Return, WWE RAW October

17th

2016

Goldber
Goldberg WWE RAW October 17, 2016

Another event KliqPod was in attendance for was WWE RAW when Goldberg made his triumphant return to wrestling. It was the first time that the Pepsi Center was sold out for a WWE Event since Vengeance in 2003.

Goldberg entered the ring at the bottom of the last hour, emotional from the echoing outpour of support to the former World Champion. It was a special night for all and will go down (for now) as one of the best moments in WWE/Denver, Colorado history.
