Unpopular Opinion: WWE Over-invests in MMA Fighters

Over the last few years, we have seen many MMA superstars crossover from the octagon to the squared circle in WWE.

Many of them have picked up the " WWE style" rather quickly while others are still learning in NXT and at the Performance Center.

Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.

Names like Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, and Shayna Baszler are all currently holding top championships for the promotion. In turn, there is an argument to be made about many of the current MMA part-time stars simply coming into WWE and dominating with world titles for long periods of time before losing their first match.

It can be very hard to watch as a viewer to see all these great talented superstars losing to people like Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey all the time.

What is frustrating is seeing Brock Lesnar disappear for months with the Universal championship on Monday Night Raw, leaving no title for the upper card stars to fight for and no top championship to build a big feud off.

Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey's title runs lately have started becoming more similar. There are not many credible opponents left for either of them to take on, however, the matches at WrestleMania are looking to be promising.

The change that we desperately want, may finally be arriving with Seth Rollins as the new Universal champion and Becky Lynch as Raw Women's champion at WrestleMania 35.

WWE can change things in the future for MMA part-timers and only allow them to be there for exhibition matches rather than extensive title runs.

The credibility of the divisions would not get diminished like it has done over the last few years and it will allow the championships to stay on television regularly.

And while I am against the idea of MMA part-timers being champions, I am certainly not against them coming to WWE for matches without championships at stake.

Their names alone, along with a decent story-line will help sell a pay-per-view. They would still make a lot of money for both the company and themselves if it was done that way.

Former MMA stars do not really need a WWE championship to prove they are legitimately tough.

It will make them seem like much bigger draws again when they are on television and won't affect the company when they aren't there or damage any WWE Superstar's credibility if they hold any titles.

The exception to this would be those like Matt Riddle and Shayna Baszler. They have been wrestling for a few years now and paid their dues on the independent circuit and have worked hard to get to where they are.

One positive that is the difference between Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar is that the current Raw Women's champion is on television almost every week and regularly defends the belt against any competitor.

Whilst her dominant title reign has come at the expense of the Raw women's division, at least she is there nearly every week to show her commitment.

There is a concern though that I'm sure many of us have noticed with Ronda Rousey is the lack of connection she has with the audience on the microphone.

The problem is her delivery with promos and inability to sound authentic.

She seems to get very easily rattled by crowd reactions which in turn, can slightly damage her as a champion because you need to be able to talk and be convincing to connect with the audience. However, she seems to have gotten a lot better with it as time has progressed.

Rousey is one of the greatest trash talkers of all time when she was in UFC and maybe she needs to go back to being that, rather than trying to deliver written lines by the creative team.

Her intensity and delivery on screen would change dramatically if she could be more herself and say whatever she wanted. Rousey certainly is in a decent position where she could hold that leverage with her character in the WWE.

The Rowdy One's promo on Monday Night Raw this past week started rather weak until Bayley made the save to announce her match with Rousey.

However, when Becky Lynch arrived, she delivered what I feel, was her most authentic promo yet.

It almost seemed like a heel turn from Rousey or maybe she went off script by accident. I actually believed what she was saying for the first time and was impressed with how real and genuine.

Rousey needs to keep delivering promos more heartfelt like that. It will keep the anticipation for her match at Wrestle-mania, alive and make her rivalry with Becky have tension and animosity that it needs. I hope to see many promo wars between Ronda and Becky.

I really hope that WWE can do away with MMA part-time champions soon and continue to focus on the future stars of the company.

The company has a plethora of Superstars they can place at the top of the company and Vince is starting to see this.

This is the new era and it needs to continue to give others the spotlight, to show that the company is listening to the fans.

The future looks bright and there are positive signs from the company.
