So yes. It is coming to an end. At least, there are several rumours doing the rounds, and if they are to be believed, the greatest Superstar in the history WrestleMania will not be competing at the Grandest Stage Of Them All this year.

Yes! We all know that The Undertaker is in the twilight of his career. We all know that he is well past his prime. We all know that he is over 53 years old.

But then, for a Superstar of the stature of The Undertaker, WWE should certainly book a farewell match for ‘The Dead Man’.

Let us gulp down this- Out of the 34 editions of WrestleMania, The Undertaker has been a part of 26 of them. It has to be stated starkly so that the magnitude of this statement is understood. For WWE fans of the 1990s and the early 2000s, The Undertaker and Wrestlemania are just inseparable. Every passing year, all of us have waited in anticipation for the gong to strike, and for ‘The Phenom’ to make his long, eerie and legendary walk to the ring.

The Undertaker has given us moments that will stay with us forever. That classic World title match at WrestleMania 23 against Batista, the legendary Streak Vs Career match, where Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker made all of us gape at them in awe, that brutal Hell In A Cell encounter between Undertaker and Triple H, where the two icons pushed each other to the limits of endurance, and The Undertaker withstood a Sweet Chin Music and a pedigree to keep the streak alive. And then, the moment that made all our eyes moist- the day Brock Lesnar ended the Streak, the day when the Undertaker finally appeared mortal.

Yes! The Undertaker cannot carry on forever and his body has certainly not co-operated with him in the last two years. But then, many WWE legends got a farewell match, and rightfully so.

The iconic Ric Flair had Shawn Michaels retire him, Shawn Michaels had The Undertaker retire him, and now, The Undertaker being the icon that he definitely deserves a farewell match.

The reason is this- We, as WWE fans want one last occasion to cheer and go berserk when the gong strikes, we want one final occasion where we can, with tears in our eyes bid farewell to the Dead Man, and finally, we as WWE fans want an occasion where we can pour our heart out to The Undertaker in gratitude for the everlasting memories that he has given us.

For this, definitely, WWE should book a farewell match for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 35, and make him walk into the sunset, and finally ‘Rest In Peace’.
