WWE WrestleMania 32: 5 reasons that WrestleMania 32 could be the worst ever

Will WrestleMania 32 be synonymous with mud?

WrestleMania will grace the state of Texas for a third time as WM 32 rides its way to the AT&T Center in Arlington on Sunday. The first time WrestleMania came to Texas was 15 years ago in the form of arguably the greatest Mania of all time – WrestleMania X7.

That show had a match card featuring the Undertaker, the Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit and the three best tag teams in WWE history with their TLC extravaganza, and all these performers were at their peaks too.

Comparing WM 17 to WM 32 seems depressing and there seems to be no doubt that this years' event will be second best. But there are many reasons – five are listed below – as to why this year's show could be the worst of all time as well.

1. The United States title match

From having a great spot on the WrestleMania 31 card to being relegated to the pre-show this year – the U.S. title has taken a big hit

WrestleMania 32 will see Kalisto putting his United States title on the line against Ryback. While the push that Kalisto has been getting is completely warranted, the same cannot be said about Ryback.

People refused to care for the Big Guy when he was a face and the same don’t give a rat’s a** now that he is a heel either. It seems beyond logic that when talented guys Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio are stuck in multi-person bouts at ‘Mania, Ryback would be trusted to shine in a solitary match.

Kalisto has a good following and fans will enjoy him getting the win, but Ryback seems out of place on the card other than as an entrant in the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal.

Oh! By the way, this match – one of the three main singles title matches – will be on the preshow. Can you imagine Cena wrestling Rusev for the same title last year on the Preshow? Thought so!

2. The ten Diva tag team match

It’s all about the Total Divas

By now, everyone should get the message loud and clear that the WWE is going to promote Total Divas like it is the greatest show on earth. This 10 Diva tag match featuring talented wrestlers like Paige, Natalya and Emma is nothing but an advertisement for the same.

It is unfortunate that Emma’s return to the main roster after that terrible Santino-valet role has to be as part of this soup, but that is the way it is.

Also, the WWE could have transferred some of the emotion that followed Daniel Bryan’s retirement onto Brie Bella, but she is stuck in the mud too. It seems weird that the WWE tried to cash in on the same sentiments that followed Eddie Guerrero’s death (by giving the world title to Rey Mysterio) and Edge’s retirement (by giving the title to Christian), but is hell bent on relegating Bryan’s contribution to the company as an afterthought.

And last but definitely not the least, this match could have a great cult following as another one of Eva Marie’s famous botch fests.

3. Andre the Giant Battle royal

Cesaro could be back with a bang!

There was some excitement when the concept was introduced a couple of years back and the WWE did a good job by letting Cesaro win the same. But his push fizzled out soon enough and when the Big Show won the same last year and went on to have a year of irrelevancy, it tarnished the image of the Andre the Giant battle royal as well.

This year has seen the Battle Royal feature no exciting candidates, with Kane and the Bigshow riding a wave of momentum coming into the match.

It seems another case of lazy writing that any time the WWE Creative has no clue how to promote a match, they let guys like Kane or the Big Show dismantle the opposition in an attempt to create some buzz.

The crowd has not been into it and unless some big money name returns to the company in the battle royal, it is going to be a dud.

4. Lack of star power

If only the Architect was still around!

One of the major reasons this year’s WrestleMania could be the worst is simply because of the lack of star power. John Cena, Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan cannot be part of the show for various reasons and the two highest profile matches feature part-timers.

WWE should have used this chance to push the mid carders like Ziggler, Sheamus and Del Rio to better heights, but their position on the match card leaves a lot to be desired.

Sure, there will be a lot of celebrity appearances and quite possibly, the entire cast of Kliq will make their customary blink and miss appearance on the show, but a show needs to get over on the strength of its main stays – that isn’t going to happen at the AT&T Center.

5. The horrible main event

Destined to be a debacle?

The show of shows will close with the WWE World Heavyweight title match between the 46-year-old Triple H and the most booed baby face in recent memory, Roman Reigns. Triple H getting the win at this stage of his career will stink of nepotism and there seems to be no logical way to get Reigns win the title without the fans starting a riot.

It really is unfortunate that the most popular guy in the Shield has become the most hated one due to poor booking.

The main event is a loss-loss and with no Money in the Bank winner available to interject himself, no interference seems good enough to change the chorus of boos that would be ringing in the AT&T center when WrestleMania goes off the air.
