WrestleMania 35: 4 things that make this edition a good time to be a fan

This year's WrestleMania promises to be a unique affair. Featuring the first main-event-worthy storyline from the Women's division, a developing rivalry with another company, along with several superstars with uncertain futures, WrestleMania comes around with the company on the cusp of a transition period.

Several superstars from NXT have been called up, and several big names are slowly but surely being phased out. With John Cena and the Undertaker not heavily featured in the lead-up to WrestleMania, it opens up spots on RAW and Smackdown where other talents can be put in the spotlight.

It also remains to be seen which male and female superstars emerge as the top players from this new crop of superstars from NXT. Newcomers on the main roster include Aleister Black, Ricochet, Nikki Cross, and soon Johnny Gargano - four of the most exciting stars of NXT, with Shayna Baszler primed to make the jump soon.

With that said, here is a look at the most unique aspects of this year's edition of WrestleMania...

#1 No Undertaker?

There are many rumblings suggesting 'The Phenom' - the most successful performer in WrestleMania history - could miss the event that has become synonymous with his career. Mark Callaway has made a handful of public appearances and has also branched out from under the WWE umbrella, which has left his status with the company uncertain.

This could mark the first time since WrestleMania 16 that the Undertaker would not be a part of the annual extravaganza, which could be viewed as a changing of the guard since the Deadman will not be there to claim his yard.

However, there is still time for an arc to be started after Fastlane, or maybe he will be an unannounced attraction at the big event itself, like last year. With health concerns mounting with every passing year, it is important to enjoy the spectacle of the Undertaker while he is still around.

#2 Fewer Nostalgia Acts

One of the biggest running critiques on WWE programming has the company's dependence on big-name, part-time stars, with The Rock, Goldberg, Triple H, Sting, even John Cena among others appearing in prominent positions on the card in recent years.

This year, the only nostalgia match scheduled for WrestleMania as of yet is Batista vs. Triple H. There needs to be a balance between star power and young blood, and this year there seems to be an emphasis on the development of younger talent as well.

Even though the roster is stacked, there is a lack of top-tier stars. Building young talent bodes well for WWE, as it leaves room to build credibility and engagement for new superstars, and also allows them to slot in if top stars are unavailable due to injury, reducing the reliance on a handful of mainstream superstars.

With Lesnar very likely dropping his championship, the Universal title will become a featured part of RAW every week, providing younger stars more opportunities to climb the ranks.

#3 Retaining superstars

With the emergence of AEW, WWE look set to have some real competition for the first time in years. Superstars unhappy with their booking have an alternative, making it tough for WWE to sign them long-term. On the road to WrestleMania, it will be interesting to see if deserving performers are given a prominent spot on the biggest event of the year.

Current RAW Tag Team Champions The Revival are set to leave, having requested their release a few months ago. Former United States Champion Rusev has teased a departure as well, while RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey's future is uncertain.

Dean Ambrose has reportedly declined to renew his contract and Tye Dillinger has already parted ways. Brock Lesnar's status is also not fixed.

This turnover of stars has prompted the promotion of talent from NXT, who look to make their presence felt on the road to WrestleMania.

#4 The First Women's main event

WIll Becky Lynch succeed in winning the RAW Women's Championship?

Since the signing of Ronda Rousey, it has been rumored that WrestleMania 35 could feature the first-ever women's main event. With the emergence of Becky Lynch as the hottest act in the WWE and the addition of Charlotte Flair, the momentous match will showcase three of most gifted athletes in the entire company.

The match will signify the culmination of the first chapter of the Women's revolution, which has given rise to the Women's Royal Rumble, Last Woman Standing, Women's Hell in a Cell matches, Elimination Chamber - to name a few - and continues in the form of the recently returned Women's Tag Team Championships.

With continued marketing of this match as the main attraction on the biggest show of the year, expect the women to make history once again at the Grandest Stage of them All.
