WrestleMania 36: 5 Directions for AJ Styles after being "buried" by The Undertaker

What's next for AJ Styles?

It is safe to say that Night 1 of WrestleMania 36 ended in the best way possible. The Undertaker marked another win at 'The Grandest Stage of Them All', but this time it was under different circumstances.

For over 25 years, we've seen The Undertaker share the squared-circle with some of the most talented men in the Pro Wrestling business. This includes some stellar names like Randy Orton, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, and Brock Lesnar among notable names.

However, 2020 was a whole different ball game for 'The Phenom'. Not only did The Undertaker bring back his old Biker persona, but he also competed in the first-ever Boneyard Match in WWE history against AJ Styles.

With WWE adding a cinematic effect to the Boneyard Match, the main event bout sure did have a big match feeling to it. And Styles, along with his OC stablemates Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, laid it all on the line with The Undertaker.

Eventually, it was 'The Phenom' who "buried' Styles to mark his 25th win at WrestleMania and he did so in style. As for 'The Phenomenal One', however, many fans are wondering what's next for AJ Styles.

Well, from here onwards, there could be a few possibilities for the former WWE Champion and without any delay, let's jump straight into it.

#5 Styles takes some time-off to maintain kayfabe

Following the conclusion of WrestleMania 36, it is likely that WWE will finally take a break from producing shows due to the massive coronavirus outbreak around the globe. The company might just wait out for some time before things get back to normal and they eventually get back on the road.

In the meantime, AJ Styles, in order to maintain kayfabe for a while, could take some time off for himself and stick to it even on social media. Even if WWE decides to produce shows after WrestleMania 36, then keeping Styles off television would be the wise choice for now.

#4 Calls out Undertaker for a singles match in Saudi

An sin bout between these two?
An singles bout between these two?

The Boneyard Match sure didn't go AJ Styles' way and the outcome of the contest wasn't exactly what he was hoping for. Styles did put up a strong performance on the night and came agonizingly close to winning the match by burying The Undertaker.

However, that wasn't the case to be, as 'Taker got the better of the former two-time WWE Champion and marked another historic win at WrestleMania. With Styles seemingly being frustrated with the loss, we can totally expect 'The Phenomenal One' to call-out Undertaker once again after all this is said and done.

For his return, the WWE Champion could end up challenging The Undertaker to a proper singles match on this occasion for WWE's next big event in Saudi Arabia. This can only happen once the massive coronavirus pandemic around the world comes under control though.

Regardless, I personally feel that the WWE Universe still deserves to witness a proper in-ring singles match between two of Pro Wrestling's greatest icons. A classic encounter between Styles and Undertaker is due at some point down the road.

#3 Blames The OC for not helping, teases a dissension

At WrestleMania 36, AJ Styles and co. clearly had the numbers advantage. And much like every other occasion, 'The Phenomenal One' received first-hand support from Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

But, The OC couldn't properly utilize the numbers game advantage. One by one, The Undertaker laid them all out and went on to bury AJ Styles by the end of the Boneyard Match in truly emphatic fashion.

Styles, who is expected to be pretty frustrated at this point, could show up on Monday Night RAW and blame his stablemates Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows for not properly helping him out during the match. Styles' understandable rage could possibly lead to dissension within The OC, as the group could tease the possibility of another split.

In the past, we've already seen The OC break away from both AJ Styles and Finn Balor. And, if 'The Phenomenal One' is to blame Anderson and Gallows for his loss then it could lead to a break-up of The OC. Which leads me to my next point.

#2 Face Turn!

Will Styles bury the hatchet with 'Taker much as he did with Shane McMahon?
Will Styles bury the hatchet with 'Taker much as he did with Shane McMahon?

At this point, the obvious choice for AJ Styles after a loss of such manner would be to finally turn face once again. There is certainly no doubt in the fact that Styles is a great heel and always has been one. His way of leading a faction in both WWE and his former promotions has always been classy.

As a matter of fact, Styles' feud against some of the best babyfaces on the WWE roster has been absolutely amazing to tune in to. However, this feels like the perfect opportunity for WWE to turn Styles face once again and put him back to his previous roots in the company.

When he first started out in WWE, Styles instantly established his place as a popular babyface. And, after winning the WWE Championship for the second time in the company, 'The Phenomenal One' once again proved how good he is as a babyface.

With Undertaker "burying" Styles, we could potentially witness the latter apologizing to The Undertaker for his harsh words and put all of this behind him to initiate another babyface run in the company.

#1 Styles returns back to SmackDown

We could wither witness AJ Styles forget the past and bury the hatchet with The Undertaker or we could witness him bid farewell to the Red brand of RAW and set his sights on the Blue brand of SmackDown once again.

At one point in time in his WWE career, SmackDown was truly the house that AJ Styles built. And maybe after suffering a loss of such magnitude, Styles realizes that it is time to return back to his old roots and start competing under the blue brand of SmackDown.

The SmackDown roster is currently filled with several top stars including 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, and new Universal Champion, Braun Strowman, as well. The addition of Styles would only add star power to the blue brand which they could very well use at this point.

And, who knows? Maybe Styles once again already has plans of making SmackDown the house that he built, as he could set his sights on the new WWE Universal Champion, Braun Strowman and his title.

Strowman and Styles have had quite the issues with each other in the past and I'm sure fans wouldn't mind seeing the two share a ring once again. Similarly to Styles facing the likes of Wyatt and Reigns once again, as well.
