WWE Crown Jewel: D-Generation X vs The Brothers of Destruction: Who Should Win vs Who Will Win

Triple H and Shawn Michaels will clash with The Undertaker and Kane at Crown Jewel

On March 28, 2010, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker clashed in the main event of WrestleMania XXVI. The Undertaker's then-unbeaten WrestleMania undefeated streak and Shawn Michael's career were at stake in the match up.

In a stunning encounter, full of emotion, Undertaker finally vanquished Michaels and with that ended the "Showstopper's" career.

For eight full years, Michaels stayed retired. His most notable WWE appearance since that moment came when he acted as the special guest referee for The Undertaker's match with his buddy, Triple H at WrestleMania XXVIII. The Undertaker won that one too to further prove his superiority over the one time D-Generation X members.

By his own admission, the man monikered as "Mr WrestleMania" refused all offers to return to the ring, staying true to his vow to the "Phenom" that his WrestleMania XXVI bout would prove to be his last ever match.

However, signs that Michaels' solemn vow may be broken were first seen on the September 3, 2018, edition of Monday Night Raw wherein "The Heartbreak Kid" predicted that Triple H would defeat Undertaker at the "Super Show-Down" pay per view. Undertaker shocked the world when he appeared to take issue with that thought and called Michaels a coward for staying retired.

Michaels stated he had remained retired out of respect and openly questioned whether that had been the right move.

Michaels assisted Triple H in defeating Undertaker at "Super-Show Down" and he and "The Game" were subsequently taken out by both Undertaker and his brother Kane, setting up the huge tag team match at Crown Jewel wherein Michaels will finally come out of retirement.

But who will win the huge match-up? And who should win it? There are multiple storyline possibilities coming out of this encounter but which result is best for business?

Who Should Win: Triple H and Shawn Michaels

D-Generation X: Will reunite at WWE Crown Jewel
D-Generation X: Will reunite at WWE Crown Jewel

The Crown Jewel tag match should result in a victory for the newly reformed, D-Generation X. At 49 years of age, Triple H is the youngest man in the match and is still a valuable commodity for special attraction encounters. He has been used to put over younger talent such as Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in recent WrestleMania encounters which boosted all three men's careers. It also appears likely that he is set to face Batista in a marquee match at WrestleMania 35.

In order to assist the hype for that bout then Triple H should be booked as strongly as possible.

It is also Shawn Michaels' return bout after an eight year retirement. Is he going to make his long awaited comeback just to lose?

If the match is a success or at least Michaels is proved to be at least serviceable in the ring at 53 years old, then he is very likely to wrestle again for the company, most probably at WrestleMania.

It will do him no favors if he is to enter that match a loser. Whilst The Undertaker may wrestle again, Kane's future is much less certain. He is the current Mayor of Knoxville and has no reason to compete again.

A D-X victory would seem to have the much greater upside for WWE's future and therefore should happen.

Who Will Win: The Undertaker and Kane

The Brothers of Destruction: Have a score to settle
The Brothers of Destruction: Have a score to settle

It almost seems inevitable that whether it is the right call or not, that The Undertaker and Kane will win their tag team match with the reformed D-X at Crown Jewel.

This will be despite the fact that this will likely be Kane's final WWE appearance for some time, due to his responsibilities as Mayor of Knoxville and the fact that The Undertaker has not looked good in the ring since his Hell in a Cell bout with Brock Lesnar, way back at Hell in a Cell 2015.

The pair, both north of 50 years of age have little to offer in the ring and not much more to give outside of it. Their best days are behind them and both men have earned so much money from wrestling that they have no incentive to put their bodies through the pain and torment of stepping in between the ropes.

However, despite all those factors, a Brothers of Destruction win does seem to be the direction WWE is heading.

The company is renowned for its 50/50 booking and after Triple H got the better of The Undertaker at Super Show-Down, it looks more than likely that the Brother of Destruction will even the score at Crown Jewel.

If this tag team encounter exists to set up another WrestleMania singles bout between Michaels and Undertaker as is rumored, then a win for the "Phenom" and the "Big Red Machine" will be the result, to set up Michaels breaking his Undertaker WrestleMania duck and finally achieving that historic win over the "Deadman."
