What's the story?

This week's WWE Raw broadcast took place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The show saw qualifying matches for the Elimination Chamber match take place with Strowman defeating Kane in a Last Man Standing Match, Elias defeating 'Woken' Matt Hardy, and Cena facing Balor for the third spot.

Cena's match with Balor saw him face the leader of the Balor Club in front of a hostile crowd in Philadelphia. Cena defeated Balor after appearing frustrated with the crowd's response to him.

After the bout was over and the show went off the air, John Cena admitted that the Philly crowd had 'got to him'. He went on to sing them a song as a way of apology.

In case you didn't know...

John Cena was one of the last four men in last night's Royal Rumble, along with Finn Balor, Roman Reigns and Shinsuke Nakamura. He was eventually eliminated by the ultimate winner, Nakamura, but not before he was able to take out the Balor Club leader, Finn Balor, from the rumble.

There have been rumours that John Cena is set to face the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, and their match will be set up in the 'next few weeks'.

The heart of the matter

Cena looked decidedly heelish during the match, in the way he was getting frustrated by the crowd. At one point he even said, "I just want to get to Wrestlemania."

After Raw went off the air, Cena addressed the Live Crowd at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. He admitted to them that they had gotten to him during the match.

As a way of apologising, he sang the 'Fly Eagles Fly' song for the Philadelphia Eagles, the city's American Football League team, despite being a fan of the New England Patriots team himself.

What's next?

For now, Cena is set to be a part of an Elimination Chamber Match along with Braun Strowman and Elias at the pay-per-view of the same name for the Number One Contenders spot to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania.

Author's take

John Cena is always a class act for WWE and knows how to work in front of a crowd. Him acting heelish may be a storyline that WWE builds toward before Wrestlemania, where he showcases his desperation to be on the Mania show.
