What’s the story?

Jeff Jarrett and Jerry Lawler competed in a brief match that spanned about 5 minutes, this past Friday.

Jarrett defeated Lawler in the matchup that took place at a Memphis Grizzlies game. Fans can watch footage of the match below—

In case you didn’t know…

Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler is a WWE Hall Of Famer and has been retired from the sport of professional wrestling for quite some time now.

On the other hand, Jeff Jarrett underwent therapy for his addiction issues in late-2017, which was paid for by the WWE.

The heart of the matter

As we’d previously reported, Jeff Jarrett was recently discharged from the rehab facility, and is looking to resume his job as a pro-wrestler/promoter once again.

Jarrett stepped into the ring opposite Jerry Lawler this past Friday night (January 5th). The match is said to have received a great response from the fans, who were in attendance for the Memphis Grizzlies vs. Washington Wizards basketball match.

Both wrestlers engaged in trash talk before their match; with Lawler and Jarrett hurling insults at one another’s cities. Jarrett bested Lawler after hitting the latter with a guitar over the back—the entire match taking place on a special platform secured for the pro-wrestling showcase.

What’s next?

Jerry Lawler serves as a part-time commentator for the WWE. On the other hand, Jeff Jarrett is said to be on the course of reviving his career.

Author’s take

Hats off to Jerry Lawler for competing at his age; and particularly considering his past health problems.

Honestly speaking, it’s great to see Jeff Jarrett back in the ring, after what was a pretty rough time for Double-J last year. Here’s hoping, Jarrett stays on the wagon and slays the monster that is an addiction.
