In a recent interview with The A.V. Club, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross spoke about signing up with the WWE again and revealed the number of dates that he had agreed to.
In case you didn’t know…
Ross had announced his retirement from the WWE back in September 2013. However, there was speculation that he was fired from the company because of his misbehaviour at an event that was held to promote WWE 2K14. ‘Good Ol’ JR’ later confirmed this news.

The main event of WrestleMania 33, between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns, was the first match that Jim Ross has called for the WWE since that time.
The heart of the matter
According to Jim Ross, talks had already started with the WWE about six months ago. Ross was quoted as saying this:
“Talks with WWE began around six months ago. I never had any reservations about going back to WWE, it just wasn’t the right time based on other things I had committed to do in my career at that time.”
‘The Voice of the WWE’ revealed that his contract was signed during WrestleMania 33 weekend. Even though his negotiations happened primarily with Executive Vice President Kevin Dunn, he claimed that Vince McMahon and Triple H were also involved. Jim Ross stated:
“My contract was signed Friday night of WrestleMania weekend. I did most of my negotiations with [executive vice president] Kevin Dunn. But [chairman and CEO] Vince McMahon was also very involved, and I did speak with him. I spoke to [executive vice president] Paul Levesque. It was a team effort.”
On the number of dates he will be working, Ross told The A.V. Club that he would be doing 30 to 40 dates during his first 12 months. In his opinion, there is nothing that the WWE can ask him to do that he hasn’t done before. Here’s what the 65-year old had to say:
“I think I’m going to do 30-40 dates in my first 12 months of my deal. Those dates are to be determined. There’s nothing they can assign me that I haven’t done before. If they want me to do U.K. or NXT or Main Event, I don’t care. It’s all good to me.”

The return of Jim Ross to the commentary desk at WrestleMania surely gave many among the WWE Universe goosebumps. It will only be better to hear him call matches involving some of the top superstars in the business at present.
