What's the story?

In an interview on the Garry, Tim and Hamish show, Kurt Angle was asked about his working relationship with Vince McMahon. While answering the question, The Olympic Gold Medalist brought up a conversation about a potential post-Vince WWE he had with McMahon where the latter humorously claimed that he wouldn't die.

In case you didn't know....

Kurt Angle returned to WWE after a long time away from the company post Wrestlemania and became the General Manager of Raw. He was embroiled in a controversial storyline where it was finally revealed that Jason Jordan was his 'son.' That storyline has not yet totally played out, and it may or may not end with one last match for Angle.

The heart of the matter

Kurt Angle was promoting the WWE Live Events at Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, on the Garry, Tim an Hamish show, and during the course of the interview, he was asked for his opinion on working with Vince McMahon.

Kurt answered this by talking about how Vince was an incredibly hard worker at even such an age, and also mentioned a conversation he had with Vince.

“I asked him one time, if you passed away, would you feel comfortable with where the company is now? He said, 'I’m not going to die'. Vince McMahon thinks he’s going to live forever and I believe him.”

Kurt also talked about the newer and stricter wellness policies in place in WWE than during his last run in the company, where he took on Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania with a damaged neck.

What's next?

Kurt is fixed in the position of the General Manager of Raw, and the Jason Jordan storyline has yet to play out.

Vince recently took a big bump when he came back on last Smackdown against Kevin Owens. He may not be back on WWE Television for a long time.

Author's take

Vince may think he is immortal, just like he thinks he took on God in a wrestling match. But the truth of the matter is that he is old now and should definitely take fewer risks. His bump against Owens was heavily criticised by Dave Meltzer as well.

With his growing age, Vince needs to consider handing over the reigns of the company to Stephanie, Shane, or Hunter, as he is definitely not up to date with what the WWE fans want from the company.
