WWE News: Randy Orton comments on Kevin Owens' weight

The
Randy Orton and Kevin Owens are two very different kinds of athletes

What's the story?

Randy Orton has been "The Viper" for as long as some fans can remember. Although Kevin Owens emerged onto the WWE Universe's radar in 2014, he was at it for just as long working the world's indie circuit.

Owens has a unique look and incredible ability that works well for him. Randy Orton recently commented about it on E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness.

In case you didn't know...

Kevin Owens has always been chastised for his weight but he's never let that bother him. After cutting his teeth in IWS he soon started travelling the world and became a mainstay in ROH.

Once he arrived in NXT, it didn't take him long to topple his old friend and rival Sami Zayn, and capture the NXT Championship. His reign with the NXT Championship was short-lived because he jumped up to the main roster in no time. But he did it all his way while not really changing his look at all.

Randy Orton's chiselled physique has become one of his calling cards at this point. He obviously cares a lot about his appearance and sees it as an extremely helpful attribute to get someone over in the pro wrestling business.

The heart of the matter

Randy Orton's interview on E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness with Edge and Christian was an exciting one, and during his interview, he opened up about Kevin Owens.

"The Viper" said that Owens has figured it out and found something that worked for him. Orton commented on "The Prizefighter" having "a bad physique" and admitted he loved the idea at this stage in his career. It takes a lot of work to look like Randy Orton does.

"I guess Kevin Owens has it figured out. He started fat and he'll finish fat. He's trying to get himself over as the fat guy that can fight. Bless his heart, that's great. I'm jealous."

What's next?

Randy Orton still has a lot of time left in the pro wrestling business. The 37-year-old third-generation Superstar has wrestling in his blood and there's no telling how many more World Championships he'll pick up by the time it's all said and done.

The same can be said of Kevin Owens, because who knows how many more times he will hold a top title before all is said and done? Although he has a look some don't find appealing his work in the ring outshines any physical setbacks as Owens uses his size to gain an advantage with his brutal move set.

Author's take

Kevin Owens has been one of my favourite pro wrestlers for nearly ten years. He stood out because of his look and his ring-work just hooked me even more. His battles with Sami Zayn (El Generico) were legendary and remain some of my favourite pairings in pro wrestling.

Randy Orton knows a lot about what works in the ring and he can obviously see Kevin Owens as a viable asset to WWE. I would have to agree wholeheartedly with that assessment from "The Viper".
