We're back with another exciting WWE News Roundup.

Reports around the 2022 Royal Rumble suggested that a significant return would transpire soon. However, the company's higher-ups eventually nixed such plans.

Seth Rollins has taken a subtle shot at Roman Reigns on the road to WrestleMania 38. Meanwhile, photos of Bray Wyatt's latest public appearance have emerged.

Goldberg's recent WWE return was undoubtedly a newsworthy moment. However, a wrestling veteran had some harsh words for the WCW legend. Today's roundup also features a Hall of Famer's take on Ronda Rousey's SmackDown appearance.

Without further ado, let's take a closer look at these news stories.

#5. WWE cancels Kurt Angle's three-week program

Kurt Angle had previously confirmed that Vince McMahon wanted him back for approximately a month. Plans regarding the same have unfortunately been nixed for now.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the multi-time world champion highlighted his experience of attending this year's Royal Rumble:

"I went to the Royal Rumble. The WWE wanted me to do a short program that they ended up canceling at the last second, but we went to the Rumble, my wife and I. We saw Kim Orton, my wife's best friend, and we had a great time," said Angle.

In addition to a photo-op with fans, the 53-year-old also did a few documentary interviews a day before the Rumble.

Kurt Angle added that he is not under contract with Vince McMahon's promotion at the moment:

"I also did some documentary interviews the day before, a photo op with the fans, but I want to make it clear I'm not signed to WWE. They weren't going to sign me anyway. It was going to be a three-week program. It got canceled, but you know, my obligation is to do the show, the Kurt Angle Show, and that's it."

Kurt Angle's return would have certainly added a lot of excitement to this year's road to WrestleMania. While those plans are no longer in place, it remains to be seen if the company will bring him back at some point down the line.

#4. Seth Rollins references his WWE WrestleMania 31 moment with Roman Reigns

This month, Seth Rollins will be part of the Men's Elimination Chamber, and he intends to walk out of the massive structure as the new WWE Champion.

Taking to Twitter, the former Shield member recently stated that he aims to "save" the main event of WrestleMania again. Of course, the last time Rollins did so was in 2015, when he successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract during the match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.

Many believed Reigns was set to earn his big main event moment while heading into that year's WrestleMania. However, Rollins shifted the spotlight towards himself with the cash-in, which drastically changed the landscape of WWE.

Check out The Visionary's recent tweet below:

The timing of Seth Rollins' subtle shot at Roman Reigns seems deliberate, as both men went one-on-one against each other not too long ago.

Their Royal Rumble showdown concluded with The Tribal Chief successfully retaining his title via disqualification. So even though Rollins' focus is now on Bobby Lashley's world championship, he could hit the resume button on his unfinished business with Reigns at any point.

#3. Bray Wyatt spotted with another former WWE Superstar at a recent wedding

Since his WWE release, the wrestling world has been waiting to find out where Bray Wyatt will appear next in professional wrestling. While there is no concrete update on the promotion he will sign with, Wyatt seems to be enjoying life after departing Vince McMahon's company.

As seen in the tweet above, the two-time Universal Champion was snapped at the wedding of Marvel writer Rob Fee and his bride, Ariana Basseri. In addition to Wyatt, the photo includes actor Skylar Astin and AEW ring announcer Justin Roberts.

Another released WWE talent, John Morrison, was also present at the wedding. He later took to Twitter to share two pictures featuring him and Wyatt, which you can check out below:

John Morrison received his release from Vince McMahon's promotion on November 18, 2021. He is set to make his in-ring return at Lucha Libre AAA's Rey de Reyes show on February 19, where he will face Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship.

Meanwhile, the company released Bray Wyatt on July 31 last year. While his professional wrestling future remains a mystery, the 34-year-old is busy working on a horror movie at the moment.

#2. Dutch Mantell admits that he is not a fan of WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg

Goldberg returned to WWE on the latest SmackDown episode to set up a match against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber. He appeared in the opening segment that also featured Reigns and his allies.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell expressed that he liked the segment until Goldberg showed up:

"I liked it 'till Goldberg showed up; that's when it went to hell in a handbasket. Goldberg got over because they put him over for months and months and months and months! And he never could work, he is just a big University Georgia linebacker or whatever, and he looked tough, and he may be tough, but that's how they put him over, but I never was a fan of Goldberg." (9:13-9:46)

The wrestling veteran also gave his honest take on Goldberg's on-screen performance upon his return:

"He doesn't talk, he just stands there, and grimaces and does his eye [gesture], and I'm saying, 'Damn, he's got some mental problems from when I was listening to him,'" added Dutch. (9:47-9:57)

It's no secret that Goldberg has often received criticism throughout his more recent WWE stints. However, the WCW legend still manages to stir up significant buzz among fans whenever he returns.

#1. Mark Henry discusses what should happen next after Ronda Rousey attacked WWE official Sonya Deville

The latest episode of WWE SmackDown concluded with Ronda Rousey choosing Charlotte Flair as her opponent for WrestleMania 38.

SmackDown's closing segment also included Sonya Deville, who became involved in a physical confrontation with the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble winner. As expected, Rousey came out on top of their encounter.

Following the show, Mark Henry applied some booking logic on Busted Open and stated that the former UFC fighter "should get punished" for attacking Deville:

"You've been telling me that when Sonya Deville takes the jacket off she's a talent. As long as she's got the jacket on she's the GM. So now is there going to be punishment? Ronda should get punished. You can't put your hands on an official. Right? Am I wrong?"

Henry added that he arrived at the potential outcome of Rousey's suspension as a result of him attempting to make sense of the situation:

"I'm looking for logic in some sh*t that just don't exist. I feel like taking a ball-peen hammer and hitting my fingertips. My head's hurting."

While the former RAW Women's Champion appears headstrong on the road to WrestleMania 38, it will be interesting to see if Sonya Deville tries to derail Ronda Rousey's momentum anytime soon.
