WWE News: Seth Rollins reveals why he stopped using the Curb Stomp

Like all good things, The Curb Stomp came to an end
Like all good things, The Curb Stomp came to an end

What's the story?

Seth Rollins has been using two highly derivative finishers over the past two years, the Pedigree and his current finishing move called 'The Ripcord Knee'. Most fans unanimously agree that his erstwhile, explosive move 'The Curb Stomp' was the best move that he'd ever used. Seth Rollins appeared on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast and explained why he stopped using the said finisher. You guessed it; the reason was Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

In case you didn't know...

The Curb Stomp was a power-packed move that involved stomping the head of an opponent to the ground. Rollins used it quite creatively, most notably at Wrestlemania 31, where Randy Orton transformed the Curb Stomp into an RKO.

Rollins stopped using the move during his WWE title reign and adopted Triple H's finisher, the Pedigree instead. Currently, after the culmination of his feud with Triple H, he's moved on to using The Ripcord Knee.

The heart of the matter

Rollins explained how the move was cancelled by the top brass of WWE:

So Vince McMahon is sitting, you know, wherever Vince McMahon sits on a Monday morning and he's seeing me on the Today show and I look great in a suit. I'm representing the company - I look great in a suit - and I'm wearing the title and then he sees this package with me stomping another man's head into the ground and it being called a Curbstomp on national television. And he thought to himself, 'Well, that is not a good representation of what I want my top guy to do.

Rollins admitted that he hates the fact that his finisher got cancelled because of how great it was, and also how easy it was to deliver to opponents. However, he added that he understood why it had to be done, from a marketing standpoint for WWE.

What's next?

As the reigning and defending Raw tag team champion, we are certain Rollins has eyes at the back of his head because the entire locker room will be gunning for his coveted, prestigious championship. Cesaro and Sheamus have a rematch clause in their contracts as well, to boot!

Author's take

I don't like Rollins' new finisher which just looks like a bad Kenny Omega rip-off. The Curb Stomp was perfect for him, and now it is gone for good. We'll have to get used to the new finisher, we suppose.
