Money in the Bank will be a SmackDown exclusive event

What’s the story?

According to AllWrestlingNews.Com, it the Scottrade Center is advertising a few SmackDown LIVE superstars for the Money in the Bank event on June 18, 2017. This event will be the 4th WWE Pay-Per-View after WrestleMania 33 and the second SmackDown-exclusive Pay-Per-View after the Show of Shows.

In case you didn’t know…

After the brand split in July 2016, WWE decided to go ahead with a new PPV structure-Four PPVs (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Summer Slam and Survivor Series) will be common to both brands and the others will be brand-exclusive.

In this allotment, Money in the Bank became a SmackDown exclusive PPV. In the process, WWE also brought back past events like Backlash and Elimination Chamber.

The heart of the matter

The names advertised for the event are Aj Styles, Randy Orton, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, The Usos, Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella, American Alpha and Baron Corbin.

It is interesting to note that John Cena’s name is not on the list. It was reported earlier that Cena will be taking time off from WWE programming after WrestleMania 33.

What’s next?

Expect WWE to start building storylines with the MITB ladder match in mind and come up with the best names for this match. This match alone can make or break the event. SmackDown LIVE is a land of opportunities and given the names; we can expect that guys like Corbin, Dolph, Miz, Ambrose and Styles will all be part of this match.

Author’s take

Money in the Bank is usually received well because of the eponymous ladder match. This will be a great opportunity to push the likes of Corbin, The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. The company could even make one of these 3 the contract winner.

It is also rumoured that Orton and Wyatt’s feud will last a little longer than WrestleMania 33. Bray and Orton could have a match on this PPV and I personally believe that the show will end with the viper’s hand raised; after all, the event is in St. Louis, Missouri.
