WWE News: Superstars and personalities send their birthday wishes to John Cena

What’s the story?

It’s John Cena’s birthday and the man finally turns 40 today. The record-tying 16-time world champion was wished on the auspicious day from a number of his fellow WWE Superstars as well as other wrestling personalities on Twitter.

In case you didn’t know...

John Cena, real name John Felix Anthony Cena Jr. has been the face of the WWE for over a decade. He is widely regarded as one of the most celebrated superstars to have ever stepped foot in a WWE ring. He is a record tying 16-time World Champion, a 4-time Tag Team Champion, a 5-time United States Champion, a Money In The Bank Winner (2012), 2-time Royal Rumble Winner (2008, 2013), among countless other accolades.

He is a pop-culture icon and has a colossal image outside of wrestling as well. He has a huge fanbase worldwide and is considered to be one of the most popular WWE superstars of all time.

April 23rd, 2017 marks the 40th birthday of the ‘Face that runs the place’. He was wished by a number of his fellow WWE co-workers and other wrestling personalities on Twitter:

What’s next?

John Cena has taken a break from the WWE in order to pursue opportunities outside of the company and spend more time with his fiancee, former Diva’s Champion, Nikki Bella. Cena proposed to Bella at WrestleMania 33 and the both haven’t been seen on the WWE TV since then. However, Cena will make occasional appearances on a part-time basis o going forward. It’s not a permanent departure, just temporary absence.

Author’s take

Personally, John Cena will forever be one of the greatest of all time. Love him or hate him, it’s hard to argue that the man has always been there for the company in its time of need and continues to do so. His in-ring abilities are in my opinion one of the most underrated of all time.

The man is an above average wrestler, having put up a number of classics matches with legends. Everyone here at Sportskeeda wishes John Cena a very happy birthday.
