In case you didn't know...

Heenan passed away on September 17th after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 72 years old.

The cancer was first discovered in 2002, and although he recovered, he lost a great deal of weight and his iconic voice drastically changed.

The heart of the matter

Triple H would say that Heenan was one of the best and most naturally funny people he had mad. He also recalled the legend's Hall of Fame speech from 2004 where the Brain stood on the podium for an hour and entertained the crowd without a single note in front of him.

Hunter also brought up a lesser known fact that Heenan was one of the best wrestlers of his time but decided to give it up to become a manager.

Our tribute

Triple H said it perfectly, "one of the most naturally funny guys ever." As a kid, I loved to hate Heenan when he was managing his family but was absolutely entertained when he and Gorilla Monsoon would banter back and forth at the commentary table.

Heenan is on top of my list of greatest ever managers, and he came along at a time when the business was ripe with legendary managers.

We all knew this day would come eventually, but it still doesn't make it any easier. He did put up a hell of a fight surviving 15 years after his first diagnosis.

One thing that we can smile about today is that we know Bobby Heenan is up in heaven annoying the hell out of Gorilla Monsoon. Thank you, Bobby Heenan.
