What's the story?

Triple H recently spoke with ESPN in the United Kingdom regarding his upcoming match with Jinder Mahal in India. During the interview, he spoke about how the match came to fruition as well as if he'll be cheered or booed in the country.

In case you didn't know...

Jinder Mahal made his main roster debut with the WWE in 2011, initially feuding with The Great Khali. During his WWE tenure, Jinder and Triple H have never had a match, so the clash in New Delhi will be the first time they've met in the squared circle.

The heart of the matter

The match between The Game and the Modern Day Maharaja will occur this Saturday in New Delhi, India at the WWE Live Supershow event. This event will take place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium and feature a total of nine matches.

Triple H talked about how this match came about, and it happened on a recent promotional tour that he attended in India. A lot of people asked Triple H about Mahal and what his thoughts were on him.

The people of India had mixed feelings about Jinder representing them, and Triple H believed the best way for Jinder to prove his worth to the people of India was to have a match against one of the best, The Game himself.

They also discussed whether Triple H thought he would be cheered or booed in his match against Mahal in New Delhi, take a look at his response below:

"I don't know. I'm a lot better at being the villain. It would be interesting to see when we get there. I've been cheered and I've been booed. If the fans want to support me because they have been watching me for the last 20-plus years, that's great."

What's next?

Author's take

I'm very interested in seeing how this match will play out. At this point, I'm going back and forth trying to figure out who is going to win this match, but right now I'm leaning towards Mahal winning in his home country.

The rise of Jinder Mahal over the past year has been tremendous, and he was able to have a nice lengthy run with the WWE Championship.
