WWE Raw preview: 30th Aug, 2016

Up for the title

It's time for another edition of Monday Night Raw and like all the weeks that went by, this week also would have some exciting segments to look forward to. A new Universal champion will be crowned this week on Raw as Finn Balor vacated the Championship last week due to the injury that he picked up. WWE booked a fatal four-way match to determine the new champion and it is set to happen this week.

The debut of Bayley was another headline maker from last week and it would be interesting to see how WWE takes her forward. Apart from these, there are some other interesting angles as well and here is a detailed look at them.

1- Cesaro vs. Sheamus 2

Time to deliver

The second match in the seven-match series between Cesaro and Sheamus will roll out this week on Raw. The first match happened back at SummerSlam and Sheamus was the one that drew first blood. Although we expected these two to have their second match last week on Raw, WWE decided to save it for this week.

Sheamus getting the win during the first match puts Cesaro in a desperate mode and it will be up to him to deliver. WWE could make things interesting by adding a stipulation to the match as the storyline might get monotonous with so many matches and nothing new about them other than numbers.

2- New challenger for Rusev?

Who will be his new challenger

When Rusev and Roman Reigns went head to head, the fans expected Rusev to drop his United States championship to the Samoan. But as Reigns was taken into the WWE Universal championship scenario, Rusev apparently survived and he would now want a new feud. The rumored debut of Samoa Joe might just work perfectly.

The rumors earlier suggested that Bayley and Samoa Joe was going to be called up and now that Bayley is here, it makes sense to see Joe come up and fill in the spot that Reigns left. One Samoan replacing another Samoan wouldn’t be a problem for the fans.

3- New Day and The Club continue their feud

Getting singles momentum

The tag team division of Monday Night Raw is going through a curious phase right now. New Day is still tangled with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows and we are bound to get a new chapter for this storyline in the latest episode of Raw. Building up Big E as a singles superstar seems to be the main purpose of the feud and it is going good as of now.

The problem with this feud, however, is the overshadowing of other teams in the division. They are being kept away from the limelight for quite some time now. It is high time that WWE started to rethink their strategy and give them something to work with.

4- Bayley’s title chase

New top babyface in town

Bayley made a triumphant debut on the main roster last week when she overcame the challenge of Dana Brooke. With Sasha Banks out of the picture due to injury, Charlotte needed a new challenger for the Women’s championship and Bayley looks set to occupy the position. She did get a good reaction on her debut night, but it will now be up to WWE to build this feud up.

The Dana Brooke – Charlotte relationship will be a good subplot and we might get to see this association blow up at some time. WWE should also think about using the other women in the division to some capacity.

5- The new champion

Can he?

Finn Balor relinquished the WWE Universal championship last night and this week, WWE will crown a new one. A fatal four way match has been set up to determine the same. Big Cass, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will be battling in the match and no matter who wins it, the fans are guaranteed a fun ride.

Reigns and Rollins are the front runners to get hold of the championship but since WWE has a habit of surprising us here and then, don’t count out Big Cass and Owens completely. The landscape of WWE will take a shift after the main event and this makes the match worth watching.
