Welcome to another edition of the Rumor Roundup on Sportskeeda where we take a look a the top WWE news and rumors of the day. Today, we take a look at the RAW Superstar who is out injured, the released superstar who is open to returning to WWE and more.

Before heading to all that, let us take a look at the top two headline-makers of the day:

WWE Superstar surprisingly released

WWE released over 20 Superstars earlier this month but since then, things have cooled down. The mass exodus has stopped but reports now suggest there has been one big release today.

As per reports in Wrestling Observer Radio, Cain Velasquez has been released by WWE. The former MMA star had one pay-per-view match in his WWE career and he lost to Brock Lesnar.

The Mexican has now been let go by the company and the possibility of him running into Lesnar again has ended. There were hopes of WWE reigniting that rivalry but with the release, it seems to be all but over for the foreseeable future.

Massive update on next possible releases

WWE are reportedly open to letting 'just about anyone' leave the company as per WrestleVotes. They claim that the company has not keen on keeping anyone who does not want to be with them. They tweeted:

Hearing from a few different sources that WWE is willing to grant a release to “just about anyone” who requests one. Basically if a talent wants out, they can go. Will be interesting to see if anyone REALLY does want out, especially during this uncertain time.

There are no names rumored to wanting their release right now. Especially with the pandemic situation still not entirely under control, it could be difficult for anyone to leave WWE and join another promotion.

Apollo Crews out of Money in the Bank match

WWE have confirmed that Apollo Crews will not be a part of the Money in the Bank ladder match at the pay-per-view next month. They report that he has suffered a leg injury on Monday Night RAW and thus is unable to compete.

Apollo Crews suffered a knee injury that left him unable to continue in his United States Championship Match with Andrade on Raw. Due to that injury, Crews will no longer be able to compete in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match on Sunday, May 10.

Crews had defeated MVP on Monday Night RAAW earlier this month to seal his place in the match. He had high hopes for himself in the match but the injury has taken him out and crushed his dreams.

It is not yet confirmed if it is a work on a legit injury. Andrade, however, has taken to Twitter and apologized to Crews for injuring him during their match last night. WWE is yet to announce who will replace Crews in the ladder match.

Hall of Famer released by WWE?

As per reports by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE released Gerald Brisco this month. However, that has been cleared up by the Hall of Famer himself by tweeting that he has been furloughed and not released.

What a writer made a mistake, to set things right. I have not been let go yet I’ve been placed on furlough don’t know who leaked the wrong news. I hope get back to helping young folks find there dream. If not it been on heck of a run

The big difference between being released and furloughed is that you do not get paid but with the latter, you keep all the employment benefits like insurance and other things. Moreover, you are not allowed to do anything work-related for the period they are furloughed

Gerald Brisco has been working backstage with WWE since 1984 and was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2008, along with his brother Jack. He also holds the unique record of being one of the three individuals in history to win the WWE Hardcore title and the WWE 24/7 Championship!

Two big returns on Monday Night RAW

Last night's RAW saw two big returns take place. Samoa Joe returned on commentary while Jinder Mahal made his return to the ring.

Joe was suspended by WWE earlier this year for violating the company's Wellness Policy. He replaced Jerry 'The King' Lawler on the commentary table and it looks like the Hall of Famer might be kept out for a little bit because of the Coronavirus situation.

The episode of RAW also marked the return of Jinder Mahal after he missed almost a year due to a knee injury. The Modern Day Maharaja made light work of Akira Tozawa on his return.

Christian tips Samoa Joe for a big title run

In an interview with Post Wrestling, Christian has tipped Samoa Joe for a title run. He has just returned to RAW and could be still be recovering from the concussion he suffered.

Samoa Joe [obviously is] a unique talent. He’s got all the tools and he’s [had] some unfortunate luck the last little while and I wouldn’t be surprised at some point for him to see him with a world title around his waist and I hope it does happen for him...

Maria Kanellis open to WWE return

Maria Kanellis was doing a Q&A session on her Twitter account when she was asked if she would want to go back to WWE one day. She said to never say never before making it clear that she wants to make things stable for her kids first and make sure that there is consistency there.

Never say never but my main objective in my future is consistency and stability for my children.

She, along with her husband, was among the 20+ Superstars released in the mass exodus earlier this month. They had recently signed new contracts with the company but things changed swiftly.

Maria was pregnant soon after the signing of their new contracts and that kept her away from the ring. As for Mike, he was unhappy with his booking and wanted to leave the company. He had asked for his release but got it at an unexpected time.

WWE did try to incorporate the pregnancy into a storyline but that did not go down very well with the WWE Universe and it was scrapped.
