WWE Smackdown results - June 27, 2014

Triple H kicks off Smackdown with Rollins and Orton at his side

WWE Smackdown, taped from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania aired on Friday Night featuring all the final build-up to the upcoming Money In The Bank pay-per-view which will take place on Sunday, June 29, at the TD Garden in Boston Massachusetts.

With the go home show 48 hours away from all the PPV action, we take a look at the events and results from last night.

Triple H confident that The Authority will reign supreme on Sunday

The show opened with Triple H making his way into the ring accompanied by Randy Orton and Seth Rollins. The Game placed his bets on the Authority as he said that it would be a historical night for the faction as both his subordinates, Orton and Rollins will emerge victorious in their respective MITB Ladder matches.The Vier will become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Rollins will earn the briefcase in the traditional MITB match.

However, the confidence shown by Hunter on his teammates wasn’t reflected in the attitude of Orton and Rollins as their was an air of distrust visible between the two. Rollins stated that Orton could fail to in his mission to be crowned as the new champion and in becoming the face of the WWE. Triple H got things under control as he managed to reduced the tension between the two before announcing a match between Dean Ambrose and Bad News Barrett.

Dean Ambrose vs Bad News Barrett

Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett and Dean Ambrose, both of whom are contenders in the second MITB Ladder match, squared off against each other in the first battle of the night. It was a bout that featured some hard-hitting action. Barret gained the initiative after planting a long boot on Ambrose. He continued to wok on Ambrose but not after the Lunatic Fringe delivered a Clothesline. Finally, Ambrose finished off Barrett with Dirty Deeds to pick up a victory.

Winner: Dean Ambrose

Jack Swagger came out with Zeb Colter after the match ended as the Real American unloaded himself on Barrett. Barrett was sent to the barricades for two times after which the British Brawler looked injured. Ambrose reemerged and attacked Swagger as the fight continued at ringside. Rollins launched a sneak attack on his former partner as he threw him into the steel steps. Rollins trash-talked him a bit and gave him the curb stomp to be a step ahead heading into Sunday night.

Paige vs Cameron

With no.1 Divas championship contender Paige joining ringside at the announcer’s table, her Funkadactyl partner Cameron and Divas champion Paige engaged in a Divas feud that saw Cameron hold the upper hand initially after delivering the Code Breaker. She locked Paige with the head scissors, but Paige came back with a Paige Turner to secure a win on the night.

Winner: Paige

After the match was over, Naomi had to interfere as both the competitors looked to continue their brawl even after the bell. With Paige turning her back, Cameron pushed Naomi which resulted in a collision with the English Diva. It looked like the two competitors for MITB were about to engage in a feud before referee John Cone interfered and did his job.

Sheamus gets a high boot from Luke Harper

Bray Wyatt vs Sheamus

The two contenders for the MITB WWE title Ladder match faced each other in a one-on-one match with the Wyatts at Bray’s corner. The Usos came out to even things out. Sheamus delivered the Cloverleaf, but the Wyatts interfered resulting in a high boot finish from Luke Harper as the match was disqualified by the official.

Winner: Sheamus by DQ

The Wyatts attacked Sheamus, but The Usos were there to take them out. Sheamus went for the Brogue Kick on their evil leader, but Bray Wyatt managed to duck in and escape the ring preventing any further damage.

RVD with a high kick to Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio and Antonio Cesaro vs Dolph Ziggler and RVD

It was a tag-team match between the contenders of title Ladder match and the traditional Ladder match as Del Rio and Cesaro teamed up against ZIggler and RVD. The Mexican superstar locked RVD in a cross arm breaker forcing him to tap out abd pick up a win for his team. But the celebrations of Del Rio were cut short as his partner of the night Cesaro took him out with the Neutralizer, reminding him what he will be facing come this Sunday at Boston.

Winner: Del Rio and Cesaro

Alexander Rusev vs Sin Cara

The Belgian Brute was in action against the Mexican Luchador as Sin Cara tried to slow Rusev down with a series of kicks to his legs. But that seemed to have no effect On Rusev as he locked in The Accolade forcing Sin Cara to tap out for an easy victory.

Winner: Alexander Rusev

Reigns delivers a picture perfect Superman Punch to Kane

Roman Reigns vs Kane

After Roman Reigns gained the upper hand on the last episode of Raw with a Spear on Kane, the Black Vested superstar and The Big Red Monster battled inside the ring in the main event of the night. Kane delivered a big boot to Reigns’ face and planted him with the Side Slam for a two count. Reigns came back with a Samoan drop before perfectly executing a Superman Punch. As he was about to go for the spear, Orton interrupted and brought Reigns throat-first across the top rope for the DQ.

Winner: Roman Reigns via DQ

Reigns retaliated Orton with another punch but could not avoid getting Chokeslammed by the Monster. Kane brought in a Ladder into the ring as Orton climbed to the top to grab the titles after a moment of uncertainty and hesitation between the two former World Champions. Just as Orton posed with the titles displaying what is about to go down at the PPV this Sunday, Reigns popped up and speared him, and did the same to Kane. He took the titles and posed with them as the crowd roared their approval.
