WWE's latest edition of SummerSlam turned out to be an eventful affair as fans were truly mesmerized upon witnessing the spectacle that was SummerSlam 2019. The PPV took place at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada in front of a sold-out crowd. The match-card had numerous high profile clashes ranging from Goldberg vs Dolph Ziggler to Seth Rollins' battle against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

The event saw Goldberg return to the squared circle for the first time since he took on The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia. The high profile PPV also graced a gigantic battle between Charlotte Flair and Trish Stratus, a match which can rightly be labelled as the "Battle of Eras".

Without further ado, here are the 5 major takeaways from the PPV.

#5 The future looks promising for "The Fiend"

SummerSlam 2019 saw the in-ring debut of The Fiend, Bray Wyatt's new character! The former leader of the Wyatt Family returned to the ring after a long time and made an emphatic impact by defeating Finn Balor in a singles bout.

The WWE Universe has always been attracted to dark characters and The Fiend surely falls in that bracket. Fans looked utterly impressed with Bray Wyatt's new character and it is fair to say that if things stay on track, then this new impersonation by Bray Wyatt might take his in-ring career to new heights.

#4 The women's division has lost its steam in recent weeks

Anyone who followed SummerSlam will agree to the fact that the women’s division has lost its steam. Multiple matches took place in the women's division but it can be rightly said that the crowd wasn't much behind them.

At WrestleMania 35, Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair made history by participating in the first-ever women's main event at the Grandest Stage of Them All. The women's revolution peaked at an all-time high back then and it was truly a magnificent period for the company. Fast-forward to SummerSlam 2019 and most of the excitement surrounding the division has somehow disappeared.

Championship bouts turned out to be below par and the crowd didn't seem to be pleased with them.

#3 Brock Lesnar is probably going on a hiatus

The Beast Incarnate was the overwhelming favourite in his clash against Seth Rollins courtesy of his vicious assaults on The Beastslayer in the past few weeks on Raw and it is fair to say that his loss against Seth Rollins managed to shock millions of WWE enthusiasts.

It's no secret that Vince McMahon is a big fan of Brock Lesnar which explains the exclusiveness that Brock Lesnar enjoys within the company. The Beast's clean loss against Seth Rollins came as a big surprise and looking at Brock Lesnar's history with the company, going on a hiatus might be next.

Vince McMahon would never let Brock Lesnar's dominance fade away and whenever The Beast Incarnate suffers a loss, an indefinite break follows. Following his clean loss against Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar will surely seek some time away and make a return anytime in future to give us all yet another OMG moment.

#2 Dolph Ziggler is the alpha heel

Dolph Ziggler

Ardent fans of WWE will agree that Dolph Ziggler is everything good there is about pro wrestling. His in-ring skills are incredible, he sells better than many other Superstars and above all, he has the potential to deliver stunning promos.

Dolph Ziggler might have suffered a humiliating loss against Goldberg but the Show-off gained a lot from the recently concluded PPV. The WWE Universe has accepted Dolph Ziggler as a self-obsessed heel who respects no one but himself.

Before SummerSlam, Goldberg’s last outing came in Saudi Arabia where he featured in a disappointing match-up alongside The Undertaker. His win over Dolph Ziggler turned out to be a short affair but that didn't stop The Show-off from taking shots at Goldberg which in turn urged the former Universal Champion to unleash his fury upon Ziggler.

Ziggler's verbal jabs made Goldberg look immensely dominant, something which will help him regain some ground following the disappointment from Saudi Arabia.

#1 Seth Rollins is "The Guy"

In the build-up to the Universal Title match at SummerSlam, Seth Rollins suffered brutal assaults at the hands of Brock Lesnar. He entered the match as an underdog with not many odds being in his favour.

The Beast, on the other hand, looked in great shape and dominated the match for most of the evening and looked certain to retain his title but Seth Freakin' Rollins had other plans.

The Architect neatly executed his signature moves and moved as swiftly as ever in the ring, something which gave Brock Lesnar a lot of trouble.

Seth Rollins’ previous victory over Lesnar came via two low blows but that wasn’t the case this time around as the former Shield member defeated Brock Lesnar clean to win back the Universal Championship and most importantly solidify himself as the top guy on Raw.
