WWE Super Show-down: Predicting the result and ranking all 10 matches based on potential quality

WWE's Australia show looks stacked as hell.
WWE's Australia show looks stacked as hell.

WWE is heading to Melbourne, Australia this weekend for their next international pay-per-view event, Super Show-down. Looking at the card, this show promises to be one that will live long in the memories of fans and wrestlers, alike. Over 100,000 people are expected to be in attendance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for this event as we could be in for a fun night, or morning, or afternoon of action, depending on where you live.

WWE's last stadium show outside the United States was the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. To say that show, in terms of the hype and promotion it got on TV, was underwhelming is an understatement. While we did get some good wrestling and great moments, it was one hell of a spectacle, but it did feel like the wrestlers were holding something back. It was a glorified house show.

Super Show-down could go down that same route but looking at the card, we are sure to get a fine mix of great wrestling, and great moments. The card is stacked with many interesting matches, which certainly have a lot of potentials. Feuds will end, titles will be won and memories will be made. However, every single match on the card will differ in its quality.

Here are the results predictions for all ten matches currently scheduled, ranked in terms of their potential to deliver.

#10 Asuka and Naomi vs The IIconics

We all know why this match was booked.
We all know why this match was booked.

Honestly, the only reason this match was booked for Super Show-down was to get Australia's own Peyton Royce and Billie Kay on the card. It feels like a match that would take place on any random episode of Smackdown. We could get bits of good wrestling in there, with Naomi's athleticism and Asuka's brilliance. It really is a shame to see how far the Empress of Tomorrow has fallen since she lost to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania.

Asuka will likely be on the losing end of yet another pay-per-view match, as the IIconics would pick up a victory in front of their people. As unfortunate another loss could be for her, this could begin the recovery of the former NXT Women's Champion.

After Super Show-down, Asuka and Naomi could have a mini-feud which is obviously won by the Empress. As for the IIconics, they could be possible players in the rumoured women's tag team division as we build to Evolution, so a pay-per-view tag team victory would do nicely for them.

Prediction: The IIconics win in their home country

#9 John Cena and Bobby Lashley vs Kevin Owens and Elias

Could we see the real Sixth Move of Doom on Saturday?
Could we see the real Sixth Move of Doom on Saturday?

Literally, the only selling point about this match is the fact that a big star like John Cena is returning. Even if it is for one night only, it will be interesting to see Cena with his new look, as he is currently staying in China for shooting purposes. This week on Raw, Elias and Kevin Owens were subject to a raucous chorus of boos, heat that only a handful of heels could even dream of garnering. However, we should not expect too much from this match as it is essentially a typical house show tag team match.

There is absolutely zero doubt about the result, with this being probably the most predictable match o the card. John Cena will pin either Owens or Elias with possibly the reveal of his actual sixth move of doom. It will be interesting to see what Lio Rush, Bobby Lashley's hype man, will do to impress the Melbourne crowd. If Super Showdown goes down to be a glorified house show, it will be exemplified by this match right here.

Prediction: John Cena and Bobby Lashley earn a routine victory

#8 Ronda Rousey and the Bella Twins vs The Riott Squad

Could we see a Bella turning bad during this match?
Could we see a Bella turning bad during this match?

Any Ronda Rousey match would be expected to deliver at least to a certain extent, as the former UFC fighter has made huge strides in her first six months as a pro wrestler. She is still perfectly managed in the ring and will continue to improve. Her partners, the Bella Twins, have been subject to some major criticism for simply just appearing on WWE programming. While Brie has been a bit sloppy since her return, Nikki is not half bad in the ring. The longest reigning Divas Champion in history improved with the times and should help make this match better than what people are expecting.

While this is the biggest match in the Riott Squad's careers, there is little doubt about the result. The babyfaces will take it, as Ronda is not losing any time soon. The earliest that could happen would be in six months, at WrestleMania. However, there is some potential for a Bella Twins heel turn in Australia, presumably coming after the match is won.

Nikki Bella is rumoured to be taking on the Rowdy One for the Raw Women's Championship at Evolution later this month, so it would only be natural that the Bellas goe bad. After all, they have been getting pretty negative responses throughout.

Prediction: Ronda and the Bella Twins win; The Bellas turn heel after the match

#7 The New Day vs The Bar (Smackdown Tag Team Championship)

These two teams hardly ever disappoint.
These two teams hardly ever disappoint.

Again, Super Showdown could just be a night of standard, straightforward babyface victories. Hopefully, this match is anything but straightforward. The New Day and The Bar are two phenomenal tag teams who work so well against each other. Their chemistry showed a couple of months ago, when the two teams went at it in a blockbuster main event tag team match. If given the time to do so, they could actually steal the show. Also, it was Sheamus and Cesaro who actually ended the New Day's record-breaking 483-day Tag Team Championship reign.

The match will be good, no doubt, but how good will it be allowed to get? The New Day are specialists in big matches and have been putting on fantastic tag team matches for fun lately. They will most likely retain the titles here, for a crowd popping babyface victory. Also, the Bar has stood tall for the past three weeks now on TV so by that logic, the champs will win Down Under.

The European pair should eventually win the Smackdown Tag Team Championship, just not at Super Showdown.

Prediction: The New Day retain after some fun tag team action

#6 The Undertaker vs Triple H

What a spectacle this will be.
What a spectacle this will be.

This match is the main selling point of the entire show and will likely be the main event. After all, what better way to cap of a stacked night filled with incredible matches and moments with one involving four legends of the industry? The Undertaker, with Kane, will take on Triple H, with Shawn Michaels.

The match might not go beyond the standard level, but it is the spectacle that counts in this case. It will be a sight to see when all of these legends grace the Melbourne Cricket Ground. We will get some fun shenanigans at ringside, involving the Big Red Machine and the Heart Break Kid.

This week's Raw ended with the Brothers of Destruction standing tall over Triple H and Michaels, which leads us to suspect a possible upset victory for the Game. HBK could play a big part in that happening as he is readying to return to in-ring action.

The tag team match pitting DX against 'Taker and Kane is pretty much set for WWE Crown Jewel, we are just awaiting the official announcement. This match is the obvious set up for the marquee tag bout, with Michaels costing Undertaker the victory in this spectacle of a match.

Prediction: Triple H wins with the help of Shawn Michaels

#5 Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair (Smackdown Women's Championship)

This match is more like a build towards Evolution.
This match is more like a build towards Evolution.

Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair is probably the best feud going in the WWE today. It is just so natural, has a proper story and has given us a different side of everyone's favourite female wrestler. Ever since SummerSlam, Becky Lynch has felt like the biggest star on Smackdown.

This is a rivalry WWE can build their entire division around. The feelings are real and there was always going to be animosity between the pair, especially since Becky was being overlooked time and time again. However, this match might seem a bit like a placeholder for their match at Evolution.

While still one of the most exciting matches on the card, others might be given more time to steal the show. These two should absolutely main event Evolution, they've earned the right. This feud has also closed Smackdown multiple times, with the Irish Lass Kicker almost always standing tall over Charlotte.

She should retain the title on Saturday through murky means, as we head to the first ever all women's pay-per-view with the biggest marquee match featuring females in 2018, aside from probably some Ronda Rousey matches. Also, Becky Lynch should absolutely turn outright babyface by the end of this program.

Prediction: Becky Lynch wins through murky means

#4 Cedric Alexander vs Buddy Murphy (Cruiserweight Championship)

Will these two get an opportunity to steal the entire show?
Will these two get an opportunity to steal the entire show?

These two have had a barnburner of a match in WWE earlier this year, it was one of the best matches of the year. 205 Live has really been host to some hidden classics, mainly featuring the likes of Cedric Alexander and Buddy Murphy. However, they might not get the required time to steal the show.

Both Alexander and Murphy are extremely talented dudes and have played a huge part in making 205 Live and the Cruiserweight Championship mean something. Hopefully, they do get to do brilliant things in the limited time they get.

The fact that the match is happening in Australia should mean that the title changes hands and Buddy Murphy comes out victorious. It also makes perfect sense. Cedric has been on top of the Cruiserweight division since winning the title at WrestleMania and it does seem like it is time for a change.

For all his phenomenal abilities in the ring, Cedric is not exactly the most charismatic superstar. So, Murphy should come out on top in his home country. If they do pull the trigger on the title switch, this has the potential to be one of the best moments on the entire show.

Prediction: Buddy Murphy wins the title

#3 Daniel Bryan vs The Miz

Will Bryan finally get one over The Miz?
Will Bryan finally get one over The Miz?

This feud hasn't caught fire like all of us were expecting. Perhaps it was the involvement of their wives, but Daniel Bryan vs The Miz has been disappointing since SummerSlam. Bryan's in-ring return has so far been disappointing. He has hardly done anything of note in the six months he has been back for.

While this feud was good, a lot more was expected from these two. They are two of the most talented superstars on the roster and should honestly be having a killer program even if the feud is about to end. That said, both Bryan and Miz are fantastic wrestlers and will give it their all to produce one fantastic and memorable match from this rivalry.

The former Smackdown general manager definitely needs to do something different, something interesting. Perhaps that different and interesting thing is going after the WWE Championship. For everything The Miz has done to Bryan over the past few years, he needs to get his comeuppance.

Bryan really needs to win this, as he failed to do so in the previous two encounters at SummerSlam and Hell in a Cell. A win is pretty much essential for Daniel Bryan and the chances of his second run in the WWE to succeed. However, The Miz should also get a title match in the future. He has earned it.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan finally makes The Miz tap out

#2 The Shield vs Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre

The Shield are the masters of the six-man tag.
The Shield are the masters of the six-man tag.

Fun fact, all of Raw's male champions are in this match. This is basically the entire Raw main event scene. We have seen a month's worth of different combinations of matches between these two teams, with all of them being pretty good. This match should follow the same suit.

The Shield are untouchable in six-man tag team action, they always impress. Matches against the Wyatt Family, Evolution and the New Day stand out. Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns will continue their fine run with another great match.

While this instalment of the Shield has not been the most organic, we will still get some fantastic action. This is the culmination of around six weeks of storytelling and we are bound to see the babyface group victorious.

However, there is some intrigue about Dean Ambrose. The running story in the past few weeks has been whether the Lunatic Fringe would turn on his stable-mates. They need one really strong showing as a team before all three go their separate ways. So for that reason, the Ambrose heel turn will need to wait.

Like the Miz getting a WWE Championship match, it should eventually happen. But Saturday is not the time or place for it to happen.

Prediction: The Shield reign supreme

#1 AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe (WWE Championship)

It all comes down to this.
It all comes down to this.

Along with Charlotte vs Becky, AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe is the best feud currently going in the WWE. The past month and a half between the two former TNA stars have been extremely personal, with Joe calling out Styles' wife and daughter. It is a concept that shouldn't really work, but Joe is a master at making things seem legitimate.

He is the most intense man in the company today, aside from maybe Brock Lesnar, and can make anything work. The matches in the feud so far have been awesome, despite both of them ending in controversy. Imagine what they will do when we have a proper finish in store.

It is that element of greatness and continuity that makes this story compelling. Styles and Joe will end their issue in a No Disqualification Match at Super Showdown, a violent brawl surely ensues.

This match should probably best the best on the entire show. It could also go either way, with both outcomes seeming equally feasible. The champ could retain and gain revenge on Joe for his family, or Uncle Joe could just wreck havoc and take the title forcibly.

This is probably one of the toughest matches to call on this show. AJ has been the WWE Champion for eleven months now, with his reign not exactly setting the world on fire.

It is probably time for a change and what better way to bring change than to crown Samoa Joe as the new WWE Champion? He certainly has earned it with his performances.

Prediction: Samoa Joe wins the WWE Championship
